First visit
Very professional staff. Timely for visit. Dr was attentive, thorough & explained all that he’d like to do for a plan of dx vs guessing.

Never saw doctor for 10:20 AM appointment on 5/1/2024. Arrived at doctor's office at 8:28, late due to emergency on drive from Hingham. Three staff women ignored us for minutes, as we stood in the empty waiting room. When one of the three women acknowledged us, she asked for insurance and driver's license, and then announced that we were one minute over the "iron-clad" 10-minute grace allowed by Dr. Pettinato, and therefore must return three months later, on July 29, 2024 at 9:20 AM. We had already waited two months for the May 1 appointment, and couldn't help thinking that Dr. Pettinato may not have been there for the appointment.

Thorough
I have had several appointments with Dr Pettinato over the past few months. I have always found him very thorough. He has always taken the time to listen to any concerns I have. I always felt that when I talked to him he really listened. My questions were answered concisely and he always explained why something had to happen. He developed a treatment plan, explained how it would work and also what would be the next step if it didn't work. When I left the appointment I felt that I could relax because Dr Pettinato had a plan for me. That plan has worked. I have also always found him very friendly and never feel rushed. I can also say the same for his staff.

Absolutely Terrible
If i could give zero stars for this doctor, I would. The only reason he's even worthy of 1 star is because his medical assistant was totally wonderful!!! Dr. Pettinato walked into the room looked at me and said "why are you here"? His tone changed a bit when my Mom who I brought to my appointment told him she was a Nurse Practitioner! He is RUDE and DISMISSIVE!!! I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy! I highly recommend going elsewhere!!! John Pettinato makes BID-Plymouth look bad. All it takes is 1 bad egg. I will NOT be going back to him.

He’s rude along with his assistant. His assistant thinks she’s magical at getting blood pressure readings so low. The fact is she’s doing something wrong because the extremely low read she got from me was 20 points lower than any read I’ve ever had in my life and with my frustration because of her it should have been much higher. The staff in the reception area are lovely. I have tremors, pretty obvious. He tells me to put my hands out straight, looks at me and says why are you here. I had to show him my tremors with my hands relaxed. If I was a shy person, he would have sent me out the door. I had to be firm with him and he finally changed his tune. I will not be returning. Waste of time. Back to square 1 finding another neurologist.

I find Dr. Pettinato to be very thorough and kind. I finally got a diagnosis for the types of headaches I have after a year of no diagnosis from other doctors. I truly appreciate the way he explains everything so thoroughly.

Saw him after suffering a grand mal seizure (first one). He was uncaring rude and arrogant. Just in this profession for the money. Clearly!

Rescheduled an appointment after having an MRI done and he decided he wanted to go on vacation. I was understanding and came in the next time, due to traffic and road construction that the office knew about I was 6 min late to my appointment, they said I was supposed to come 20 min early (before my appointment) and that I was actually 20 min late so they refused me, the office manager is off too and the asst manager obviously did t know how to speak with paitents, she kept about the time, even after I showed my phone. All she could say was that maitence might need to fix the clocks in office

Today was my first appointment with Dr. Pettinato. I suffer from migraines, at times chronic. My previous doctor recommended Dr. Pettinato when she moved away. I am very glad she did. He was thorough, kind and offered additional treatments.

My wife visited Dr. Pettinato for chronic migraines and asked what to do before / during pregnancy. Pettinato was rude, arrogant, and made us feel stupid for asking questions. He did not provide any solutions for migraines, just said that she should suffer through them during pregnancy and "take tylenol". Every other question we had, he gave one-word answers, most of which were "no". For a "specialist" in migraines, this advice is not only disappointingly inadequate, it's also condescending

I drove 3 hours to get to this famous headache clinic. I get daily migraines. He suggested I take more B2 and told me to come back in 3 months. I said will that help, he said probably not. I said so I will have daily migraines until I see you again in 3 months. He said probably.

If you are not interested in Botox, or simply interested in other options, avoid. He pushes Botox unlike any medical professional I have ever encountered. Refuses to consider other options (because they aren't as good as Botox).

Limited ability to deal with co-morbid conditions. Also, he displayed little to no empathy for debilitating health conditions. While he made one new treatment recommendation he said I had pretty much exhausted all treatment options and needed to accept that I may not get any better.
