Dr. John Park is the BEST Neurosurgeon!!!
He performed lumbar spine surgery for my dad who struggled with walking and living a normal life for over 3 years (due to pain and numbness). Dr. John Park explained in detail why and how he would perform the surgery with so much patience before the surgery. Due to Dr. John Park exceptional strong expertise, meticulous about the surgery and deep care, my dad's long surgery is very successful, and my dad had very little pain and able to walk soon after the surgery. My dad is grateful to Dr. John Park and his care team for their great care. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH, Dr. John Park!

I found him dismissive, arrogant, insensitive and inappropriate for my needs. He recommended physical therapy for a back problem that another surgeon prescribed both epidural and ultrasound/cortisone shots for. I suffer from severe degenerative disc disease, spondylosis, osteoarthritis and spondylolisthesis as well as stenosis. He admitted after asking 'so where does it hurt?'that he could perform surgery on my whole spine but wouldn't. The MRI right in front of him told the story but he made me feel ridiculous and hypochrondriacal when I said it hurt everywhere from my L5 thru S1 and 2 all the way down my right leg. I got frustrated with him and he told me to go back on benzodiazepines which took a year and one half to withdraw from. He may have a Harvard degree but so do I. Wouldn't recommend him to my pet rock. He is probably great for tumors and spinal chord injury but for backs go elsewhere. I did and am walking upright with much less pain than if i only did physiotherapy. C-

My husband s tumor was found 1.20.2016. From there it was a whirlwind till surgery. I told him we had the best insurance, so find the best surgeon and hospital you can. We Love SBarbara Cottage Hospital and doors opened for us to see Doctor Park. My husband did the research and felt he was the best on this part of the Country. His surgery was 2.8.2016, he was one of the first to do the interoperative MRI for Brain Surgery at that hospital. I believe it was used 3 times. Surgery started at 5 am and he was in the Icu room at 7pm. I was concerned of the length, but each time I asked for an update a actual nurse in procedure gave me a correct and easy explanation to ease my stress. At completion Dr Park arrived to tell me he got all he could 97 %, I noted he looked notStressed or tired.I asked to see hubby, he said soon, I asked about cancer he said not to worry LABwould have results Soon.I was able to stay by Hubbys sideTHAT nite in ICU, In theAm to private rm.Hme 2.12YesCncr Ok

Dr. Park was excellent. I couldn't recommend him more highly. He was direct, Frank, and up front about my condition. He discussed the options for my surgical treatment and all potential side effects. He took his time and answered all my questions. He was appropriately concerned. His clinical skills are excellent as reflected in his resume. Again, I could recommend him more strongly

My experience with Dr. Park exceeded all expectations for medical care. I had rapidly developed several brain tumors and within less than a week Dr. Park performed a comprehensive and informative diagnostic appointment and major surgery. My short hospital stay was followed by an unbelievably pain-free recovery. Absolutely amazing. Our thanks to Dr. Park, a calm, responsive and caring physician

My wife and I researched neurologists extensively before deciding on Dr. Park for my neck surgery. We drove from Bakersfield to Santa Barbara for each office exam and for the surgery and follow-ups and we are so happy we did! My surgery was a success and I am on my way to a complete recovery. Dr. Park always has a handshake and a warm smile for us. He explains everything in detail and answers all of our questions. He has been such a blessing to us and I can highly recommend Dr. John Park!

I had just the opposite experience as the other 1 star reviewers. I found Dr. Park to be very congenial, caring, and informative. He took his time getting my story and doing a physical exam. I never felt rushed. He then clearly explained what he felt was needed and why using models to visually aid in his explanation. I was very satisfied with this initial visit.

He's uninformative, condescending, rude, and uncaring. I was referred to him by my PCP for an MRI evaluation and prognosis. His answer: he does not have a "crystal ball." He didn't look at my cervical MRI until I asked him, and then he did not bother to explain what he was seeing. His concern: Do you want surgery or not? A complete waste of my time and now I need to find another expert who can explain to me the conditions of my spine. I know he's not the surgeon for me. Run away while you can!!

Dr. Park is the most uncaring physician I have EVER met and I have met many since my diagnosis 25 yrs ago with von Hippel-Lindau, a rare disease that can cause hemangioblastomas (tumors) in the brain & spine. Dr. Park refused to keep me as a patient saying: "It is not my usual practice to treat VHL patients." He refused to order routine MRIs for follow up and said he would not want to treat a VHL patient even though the hemangioblastomas (tumors) we get can also occur in the population at large.
