Dr. John Merling, MD

Have been going to this doctor for over 30 years. The last few times tried to get an appointment with him got the run around, they cancelled several appointments on me etc..finally put me with a nurse practitioner. So, I called for my yearly appointment and they told me that he didn't want to my doctor anymore. It appears from the website for Wilmington Medical that he isn't even in that office anymore. They only list 3 doctors and nurse practitioners. Horrible to not send patients out a letter explaining that and for the office staff to be telling people that kind of thing and trying to get them to make appointments with other doctors in the office without the full truth. Regardless, the office staff has been rude and incompetent for many years, and I am finding a new doctor somewhere else.

Honestly I had loved Dr. Merling for my prenatal care but the moment I went to the hospital to give birth he was absolutely awful and inappropriate. As soon as I was admitted he wanted to break my waters. I said that I'd like to wait and see what happens, if it would happen naturally on it's own and his response was "my dinner is getting cold". He also made incredibly inappropriate comments about the fact that I hadn't shaved or had my toenails done?! At our first postnatal appointment he made sure to tell me all the ways that my baby was going to die with my parenting choices and I immediately switched providers to a different office, different town. Also want to add that I've talked to other mothers who have also gotten and heard inappropriate comments from Merling. 0/10 do not recommend.

I love Dr.Merling he takes his time with me and knows what I need to take

Dr Merling is fantastic! He was my doctor during my 4 pregnancies, delivered my children and has continued to treat them. He is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend him to anyone.

Been going to Dr Merling for years and absolutely love him. He is also my children's pediatrician. I completely trust him with all my medical concerns. He genuinely cares about his patients and is always to answer all my questions.

Always wants to give me a Pap smear, even though I come in for a cold. Would never have him be my Gyno, has given me wrong prescriptions, totally incompetent. His staff is worse, always wait on hold even though I'm the only one on the line. When I go in for my appointment they sit behind the glass window gossiping about patients.....
