Dr Mehall was fantastic - from start to finish- in his ability to explain my mitral valve leak issue, further explain the minimally invasive procedure I qualified to receive, breakdown the reasons to have surgery at St Francis -Penrose& receive expert care as well as surgically carry out EVERYTHING he explained to a T!!!! Upon meeting him I KNEW I would be in an excellent surgeons hands& though I sought other consults I came back to him due to his excellent experience& knowledge of minimally invasive mitral valve repair as well as his extremely infectious manner as an astute& respected Cardiothoracic Surgeon!! If You are seeking the BEST IN COLORADO..... HE IS YOUR CHOICE!!!!

Pray I never have to go thru that again , but I wouldn't consider going under the knife with anybody else Dr. Mehal, literally saved my life ..and the best part was yet to come in that I discovered I had a son that I never knew of for 50 yrs. had I died , I would never have known . thanks for the "miracle " Dr, you truly are an angel. Can not say enough good about Dr. Mehall and his staff that performed my husbands bypass surgery . Lead by Dr. Mehall each and everyone from the Surgical staff to the CNA’s at Penrose went above and beyond to ensure a successful outcome. The surgery saved my husbands life and we are deeply grateful for finding such incredibly good care .

Dr. Mehall repaired my mitral valve in June 2017 via a 2 1/2 inch incision on the right side of my chest between 2 ribs plus a tiny 5mm incision also on the right side for insertion of an endoscope.. No rib spreading or bones were cut. I was out of the hospital in 3 1/2 days. Could immediately take short walks and could walk 1-2 miles within a week. Only took Aleve and Tylenol for pain. Could sleep on either side within a week. Dr. Mehall and his staff in Lakewood and at Penrose were great.

I came into the office today and was very scared about having surgery. When Dr. Mehall came in he explained everything about what would be involved about the procedure and the steps that I would need to do in order to improve my health. I felt more comfortable knowing exactly what and who would be involved in my care and even though this process is still scary I feel better about the procedure and my care going forward.

Due to personal experience and hearing others' experience, I would NEVER (and I do mean NEVER) recommend this man to anyone.
