Poor bedside manner
Poor bedside manner. Although he seemed to know what he was doing, he was abrupt and unfriendly. Instead of explaining things to me, he said he'd give me pamphlet. OK, maybe he sees dozens of people with floaters and flashing lights, but this was my first time and I was worried about possible retinal detachment. He seemed to not want to be bothered with me.

Excellent care
I came to see Dr. Mastroni about blurry vision and he was professional, knowledgeable, and easy to interact with. He listened carefully and answered all of my questions. His prescription worked well and solved my problem.

Dr. Mastroni was condescending and arrogant when he went over his diagnosis regarding my eye. To top everything, his diagnosis was completely wrong. I am diabetic and I told him that I was seeing spots. He said, well your diabetes is not controlled, so your veins have ruptured and are bleeding and that's where the spots are from, blood. He dismissed me and said, well the spots may go away or you may have to live with them forever. I went to see a specialist in the bay area and was told that the veins were not ruptured, I did not have blood, and that I had an eye infection and they prescribed drops. The eye cleared up. I was so relieved to hear that it was an infection that could be cured. Dr. Mastroni really put a lot of worry and fear in me for months, and I would never recommend him to anyone.

Dr Mastroni is a first-class doctor, has taken excellent care of my ocular hypertension issues, precursor to glaucoma which I've had for years. He is consistent, polite, kind and gentle and helps with my chemical sensitivity issues in finding the meds for the condition I can tolerate. I can't relate some negative comments here to the doctor I know. He's been great. I've recommended him to all my relatives and they also are very happy with him.

This is an update of an earlier review. Neither Dr. Mastroni nor his office called back with instructions as to whether to continue the eye drops. He scared me saying I had glaucoma with no alternatives but eye drops for the rest of my life or go blind. After extensive tests a 2nd specialist told me to quit the eye drops and 6 months later my optic nerve is healthy and I don't have glaucoma. It never hurts to get a second opinion.

Miss diagnosed Glaucoma, could not remember the eye drops he prescribed and did not put it in his notes. Treated the patient rudely, as if they should have known what he prescribed. Sent patient home to call back with medicine, and never returned call. After going to an out of area Glaucoma specialist, there were no symptoms of Glaucoma. 6 month follow up confirmed, NO Glaucoma.

He came in to see my baby about an object in her eye and immediately intimidated me into a procedure, dismissing my questions. While the outcome was good, the way he treated my baby and me was not. It is not too much to ask to be informed about the procedure, tools, and means that a doctor wants to perform, or to take a minute to get to know a patient and help a nervous mother feel comfortable, informed, and prepared. If my baby needs future care I will try to go to someone else.
