Terrible job on my cateract surgery. Did not correct stigmatism and left a glare problem resulting from insertion of lens.

Dr. Martin is the best.
Dr. Martin has been my opthamologist and eye surgeon for over 15 years. He is the ultimate professional while being caring, and a great listener. He is aware of a patients general health and takes all aspects into consideration. He is actually my favorite doctor and I have (many). Thanks.

Excellent. Our internist referred my wife to Dr. Martin when she required treatment for her 2nd cataract about 5 years ago. He has been professional, reassuring and did a superb surgery with her cataract. I now see him for my routine annual eye exams in Alexandria. I retired from clinical medicine just as online reviews began. I received 5 stars my last 3 years from our hospital system for what they called ‘customer service’ based on their patient survey data. I asked that they change the wording from customers to patients (I’m old school I suppose). I understand frustration often seen in the online physician reviews. That said, from my personal observation and experience, Dr. John Martin is a competent and caring physician. His office is clean and his staff is courteous. We plan to continue seeing him either until he retires from practice or we retire from life. I hope those reading my review find this helpful in their search for a caring and competent Ophthamologist. Good luck.

When examining my eyes at my regular 6 month visit, John Martin used 2 drops in my eyes. My eyes were dilated for days. When I called to ask how long this would last, I was told that I was not dilated. I walked in seeing clearly. When I drove home from my appointment, my vision was blurry. To this day this has not changed. I even saw his partner, Mary Beth McAteer. She said my eyes were probably dilated and he just forgot to write it down. She told me to let it go and it was time to move on. Seriously? I was supposed to just let it go. This guy did something to my vision. I highly recommend you stay away from him.

If you don’t want a technician to make the critical measurements, suggest you look elsewhere. I had a bad experience with subpar results.
