Dr. Mann replaced one hip in 2006 and the second in 2015. Both operations and recovery went without complications. I was 61 when I had the first hip replaced and I credit him with giving me back my mobile life.

Knee pain.
Dr Mann was professional and had a good report with me. He knew what was wrong and took care of my discomfort and was straightforward with a future procedure I might need. I was open to questions and he provided the answers I needed. I trust his judgment and look forward to working with him in the future

knee replacement
He was a quiet professional doc. I am every surgeons nightmare as a nurse. I asked a million questions before and after. He kept me updated after surgery as I had a clot. He made the ER docs come over and speak in front of me with him. It was a very painful surgery but worth it. Dr Mann made sure was properly medicated. What I hated was the Mercy Trinity Hospital.. the ER and nurses working on the floor. I received no care and had to beg for medication. I actually felt unsafe in their ER very lacking in security. It was like a psycho ward and the staff made no attempts to address threats., Loud music, smoking in bed.. you name it. When I spoke to the nurse she said it was "always like this" I have been a nurse 35 years and never have I experienced anything like it. I won't go back. No wonder Dr Mann left the place. He is old school polite professional & knows what he is doing they don't make them like that anymore.

I was very pleased with my experience with Dr. Mann. He was up front and explained everything I needed to do to prepare for surgery. The day of surgery, I was terrified! He and all the staff at Mercy were compassionate and professional. My recovery went well, thanks to the guidance of them all. I'm sad to hear he will be leaving and hope he gives me direction for when I'm due for my other hip replacement. I trust him and his expertise. Wishing him the best on his relocation. Thank you for everything you all did for me!

Dr. Mann was very professional, caring and kept us informed every step of the way. We knew what to expect after the surgery and his team got in touch with us several times to check on my progress. Dr. Mann did an excellent job with my hip replacement surgery and I would highly recommend him.

I am on oxygen and my battery needed to be changed out. He came in while I was doing that. I could talk to him but he got frustrated and left. He said this was supposed to be an appointment. It was either fix the battery which takes about 2 minutes. I told him it was either fix my battery or go without oxygen. When I stood up to him he backed off. I have a knee to replace and now have injured the other knee. I guess I will get an appointment for him to look at the injured knee since he has baseline X-ray. I will make sure I am good on my oxygen. Thanks goodness my Mol was with me because my comments would have been much worse.

Dr. Mann did care to listen to me when I was explaining the particular issue I had come into the office to be seen for. All he was interested in doing was telling me that my knee hurt because I have arthritis and I'm overweight, which I already knew before seeing him. When I finally got him to listen to me long enough so I could explained to him the reason I was there he took look at my x-rays and saw the cyst that was causing me pain. He of course gave me no treatment options for the cyst and basically told me to live with the pain and lose weight. Had I not been persistent in him listening to me he would have never actually looked at my x-ray.

Very unfortunate results with my hip replacement by Dr. Mann. As another person said, he doesn’t like patients who end up with problems. I still have pain in my left hip incision sight 5 years post surgery. I paid extra at the time to have guided computer surgery and he didn’t use it, saying his naked eye was as good as a computer. Not so

A man of few words but an excellent orthopedic surgeon. Highly recommend him. My husband had total knee replacement after years of suffering from osteoarthritis. No surgeon in the past wanted to operate on his abnormally bowed leg. After Dr Mann did his surgery my husbands leg is perfectly straight and he is a half in taller. Amazing!!!!

Love my new knees in Roanoke, VA – Jun 24, 2018
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Mann III?
I am sorry to go against the wave of positive reviews for Dr. Mann; however, I have not experienced the same quality or concern from this surgeon. He is very difficult to communicate with and shows little care for any post-operative problems or complaints. He is wonderful and smooth as long as you fit his mold but becomes a different person if , heaven forbid, you present back with a complaint. He needs to return to Med School 101 to re-learn how to treat the person not just the orthopedic joint

Dr Mann gave me my pain free life back. He's very professional w/ a professional staff. I recommend him to anyone who needs knee replacement surgery. Patients deciding to have knee replacement need to be physically active before and after surgery if they want to be pain free for the long run.

I would highly recommend Dr Mann if you are having a problem with your knees. I have been getting shots in my knee and when he gives the shot I can't hardly feel it. I know when I get my knee replacement I will definitely have Dr Mann do my surgery.

It took 2 weeks to get appointment but it was worth the wait. His assistant Ms. Gina Woods came to waiting room 5 minutes early. A very nice ,informative Lady, answered all my questions before I even saw Dr. Mann. After X-rays Dr. Mann , did not try to talk me into knee replacement rather prescribed a series of 3 Orthovisc injections with physical therapy. I felt some pain relief by the time I got back home. After 2nd injection 80% of pain is gone. Looking forward to 3rd injection. Excellent
