On July 28th, 2024 I checked myself into Tampa General Hospital a little after 9am for chronic migraine. I informed the triage nurse that this is abnormal to have a migraine daily that hasn’t gone away. I brought to her attention that back in January I was diagnosed with IIH by TGH. I also brought to her attention that I recently on July 15th was just at TGH for these daily migraines. Once I was called to the back to be seen by a physician, nurse Justine, she walked over to me with a confused look and greeted me by saying “Why do you have gloves on?” After that conversation she brought to my attention that the notes in the hospital system reflected that my migraine went away after they gave me a headache cocktail. I advised her that, that was incorrect and that I indeed did still have a headache, she asked “So they discharged you while you still had a headache?” I said “yes, and I advised the previous nurse that the headache never left so I’m not sure why it says that.” Then a teaching doctor came over asking questions as a physician would, and I assume reported everything to the actual licensed physician, Dr. John Kiel. When Dr. Kiel approached me he stated he looked over my chart and saw my history and heard about what was going on. I explained to him everything and mentioned my IIH diagnoses. I asked could they do an MRI due to the fact that MRI can detect more than what a CT scan can and because I had a CT done on the 15th. He stated he wasn’t doing a MRI and that I’m not experiencing an emergency. I was trying to explain to him if he’s going based off my chart, my headache never left per the last visit notes and that this is an emergency, and can he at least check on my IIH or have a specialist make sure it hasn’t worsened. As I was talking to him you could see that he was getting extremely annoyed and before I could even finish explaining he interrupted me stating “I’m not about to go back and forth with you.” And he began walking off. I replied, “I’m not going back and forth, I’m just concerned because this is abnormal and now, I feel like I’m playing doctor and patient”. As he continued to keep walking off, I asked, “can I see another physician?” and his reply was “not today you can’t”. I begin to cry and called my sister to come pick me up. After that I never saw him again, he never advised me that he was discharging me. He never spoke with me again. We never discussed anything about how me, a NON-MEDICAL LICENSED patient, would get medical help. Then I noticed that he LIED in my summary notes to make it as if I was arguing with him, he lied stating that we spoke about my after care, he lied stating I was demanding an MRI, so not only did he have POOR bedside manners, he neglected helping a patient, he then told countless numbers of lies to attempt to justify his unscrupulous actions.

Dr John M Kiel was awesome , cooperative and able to diagnose him. He gave attention and a good listener to what I was suffering from. His recommendations and directions were very valuable in terms of correct movement, necessary medications and even physical therapy. May God bless you, Dr. John, for your love and simplicity.
