'Eliminating gluten cures carpal tunnel'
I saw this doctor once, for a consultation on doing a carpal tunnel release. Dr Kayvanfar was polite and friendly but it went sideways early on when he offered me the choice of doing the traditional surgery, or just eliminating gluten from my diet...either of which he claimed would solve the problem. He took the opportunity to pitch his book on the subject, which seemed absurd and unprofessional in an exam room.I told this story to my regular family doc in Palmdale, whose response was 'Yeah...run, don't walk, away from that guy'

Right To The Point
Excellent! If you're looking for a specialist with NO beating around the bush, choose Dr. Kayvanfar. He performed operations on both my knees, within a few months of each other, and not only the actual surgeries, but also the before and after cares were right to the point. I never thought I could walk as long as I wanted to and be back to my desired activities. Thank you thank you!

Get a second opinion
My experience was similar to the Kelita Kelly review. Younger doctors are more knowledgable of the latest information in orthopedics. His personality flips when questioned. Patient beware!

This was a horrible doctor. When I first when to him I thought he was a nice old sweet doctor. I had only been seeing him a month when he said are you going to get the operation on your thigh. I said I'm still thinking about it. What is their to think about? You need the operation it does not get better. I just found out 3 months ago I had arthritis in my knee and my hip. I wanted to think about it. Maybe he was right, it does not get better I still want a second opinion. He came right out and said DON'T COME BACK IF YOU DON'T GET THE OPERATION NOW. I need to sign you up now to do it. He said there's nothing to think about. I sit there outraged that he would say that. So I said let's start with the knee, he said NO. The knee was a outpatient procedure. NOT MUCH MONEY he wanted to do the one that was the most money for him. Keep in mind all his patients were elderly. I know you can scare the elderly easy. How many times has he done this to the elderly? The money, FILTHY LUCRE his GOD$$$

I would and always have recommended Dr. John Kayvanfar to all of my family and friends. He is not only very knowledgeable in his field of specialty, but in many other areas, which can help reduce pain, and harm to our body, joint, and bones. He who does not just prescribe medication to relieve pain, but he actually finds the root of any issues and problems, and tries to treat his patients to get better by finding the cause of the problems. He has helped patients on wheelchair walk again.
