Amazing Surgeon
Could not have asked for a better surgeon to treat my prolapse. He is very respected by the staff that works with him, which speaks volumes.

Totally Likely! Dr. Joyce was totally responsive !
Excellent! He was interested and concerned. He was so Impressive, that within minutes he was able to request my medical pelvic floor history from a hospital in Scottsdale AZ. He scheduled a test the following for me with his office the following week.Dr. Joyce reviewed the test findings on the screen with me, which revealed my issues. We scheduled my surgery and 10 months later I am still feeling great!

Rude and unnecessary intervention
I was referred to Dr. Joyce by my pelvic PT for pudendal neuralgia symptoms. He was very rude, had terrible bedside manner, and wanted to catheterize me even though I told him that wasn’t part of my symptomology. My friend who came with me had to step in and tell him no. He then directly told me “Well I’m not pain management. There’s nothing I can do for you”. I left in tears.

Urethral divertectomy
5 years ago, Dr Joyce surgically removed my urethral diverticulum. He narrowed my urethra so much I had the urine stream of a 2 year old. Recently, I went to a urologist to stretch my urethra, and he discovered 2 new diverticulum. He said he didn't know why they'd recurred, but I talked to a hydraulics engineer who said the stricture created pressure, according to Bernoulli's equation, and that caused the new diverticulum. Dr. Joyce is a poor surgeon who worsened my condition and failed to recommend appropriate follow up. Fortunately, I found a new surgeon who removed the diverticulum and repaired the stricture with a skin graft from inside my cheek. It's great to urinate like a normal adult again.

Insensitive
My mom has blood in her itinerary, so was referred to Dr. Joyce. During the exam, she was grimacing and gripping the table in pain. He went on with exam with not even looking up or acknowledging her intense discomfort. I asked my mom, does that hurt? to draw his attention to it, and he continued on without a word. He prescribed 2 more procedures and a vaginal cream. Thanks but no thanks.

Very bad experience
I went to him on the recommendation of my insurance company. I have three prolapses and I want to keep my uterus. There’s a procedure for that. He examined me. He used a strong chemical soap on my private part. After the exam he neglected to wash it off and I was itching like crazy. He said he might have to give me a hysterectomy if he found cancer and he would do it whether I wanted it or not. Later he denied saying that. He wouldn’t explain what he was doing during the exam despite my repeated questions. I said I was going to find a different provider. He stated he was the only person who could do this surgery. Well, he’s not the only show in town. When I got my records, there were a number of derogatory comments. “She looks older than her age “ “she is obese “ “she masturbates”. My gynecologist said “what’s wrong with that?” She will not be referring anyone to him. . I knew about a severe complication that can occur from surgery. He denied that this might occur I don’t trust him

Insensitive. Not trauma-informed. Fatphobic. He invalidated my pain and the reason I have it. Very unprofessional. When referring to past sexual trauma as a probable cause of my issue, he asked super insensitive questions about the traumatic experiences and literally went "pff" about it being the cause. The procedure was the worst part. He didn't explain what he was doing as he was doing it. It all hurt very much, and even though I expressed that in the moment, he said "You didn't experience pain when I did this" or "This didn't hurt." I was in so much pain that the nurse offered for me to hold her hand. He was so heavy handed and had no delicacy around such an intimate area (where he knew I had trauma regarding). Chalked my pain up to my weight in the end. Said he couldn't do anything for me and handed me off to other physicians. The nurse (I wish I remembered her name) was the only good part about my visit. She comforted me when I started crying after the exam was over.

Dr. Joyce has poor a bedside manner, was needlessly defensive, and insensitive to this patient. The procedure was painful. He disregarded my pain saying"this shouldn't hurt." He surprisingly made negative comments about the urgent care doctor and my primary care physician. Without explaining any diagnosis, he decided I needed another procedure done by him, another test, and physical therapy. He wrote two prescriptions including an antibiotic though I didn't have an infection. He said I could take it when I wanted to and didn't need to be tested. I would never recommend Dr. Joyce.

Dr Joyce did my surgery two weeks ago. He was very informative about what he was going to do and said I’d come home with a catheter. I had a lot of issues with the catheter and he got me in immediately to check me and see if I can urinate on my own. I couldn’t so he put it back in. Explained it was huge surgery and bladder needs time to heal. He listens and made me feel ok that it was going to be ok. I was in a lot of pain and was crying and he was very consoling and his staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

My Experience with Dr Joyce has been nothing but outstanding. I was referred to him by a colon rectal surgeon due to a prolapse. He worked in concert with my surgeon doing a fair amount of reconstruction. He was so kind and compassionate during my surgery and recovery. I will tell my friends and family that I wouldn't go to anyone else. His staff is also outstanding they are responsive and get you an answer and the help you need right away. I really appreciate them all !!

Worst Dr ever. Sliced my bladder during a routine hysterectomy, I had to have a catheter and bag attached to my body to urine, caused me a bowel blockage. I have to take antibiotics for a minimum of 10 months. A filed a complaint against him. He tried to do an insurance claim as if it were all a planned procedure. He. Became very angry that I filed a complaint and spoke to me in a rude intimidating way. I could go on. My hospital records are mixed w/another patient.Dont want any1 to suffer.

Dr. Joyce was the second specialist I went to see concerning damage after having my 3 large babies (prolapse/incontinence/sexual dysfunction.) He answered my questions and explained the various measurements he had made. I am young (34), but I really want to have corrective surgery! Dr. Joyce explained all my options and even connected me with a physical therapist in case I want to try PT first. He said he would perform the surgery (sacrocolpopexy) if I feel strongly that I want it.
