Worst practice every
My husband has not seen Dr. Kuemmerle since he was treated in the hospital, and he has only been offered appointments with the physician assistant. Whenever we call the office it goes to voicemail, and we normally have to call back for a response. Totally unacceptable for a practice that specializes in these types of conditions. Placed a call to the office on August 8, 2024, and we still have NOT received a call back from a nurse, the PA, or the doctor 5 days later. Would NOT RECOMMEND this practice to anyone.

I am getting great care from Dr. Kuemmerle
I have had a number of office visits and encountered great staff and great medical care. The doctor has worked with me to address a chronic condition and finally he seems to have found the magic that has made a difference in my life. When I have a question, it is relayed to the doctor and I get an answer the same day. Thanks to the doctor and all his helpful staff!

The last time I had to deal with Dr. Kuemmerle he had little to offer on my chronic GI issue. He never smiles, is rude and doesn't seem to care if you get treatment or not. It's really coming to light that MCV/VCU is having terrible problems keeping good doctors and if they have a higher position they have huge ego's and care less. I have been at MCV for over a decade and I am ready to get out!! I have been through the gamut of bad doctors who don't care and what's worse is their patient relations dept doesn't give any help at all. You also get passed around on the phone constantly and then hung up on. When you are chronically ill they make things harder for the patient, not easier. Go find a doc outside MCV!

I held high hopes for this visit, thinking that the department head of gastroenterology at a teaching hospital would reveal greater options for a colonoscopy for those of us intolerant of the prep. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Dr Kuemmerle was not at all empathetic and was rude and dismissive. The visit totally disillusioned me with regard to an institution for which I’ve always had tremendous respect. He does not put a positive face on the VCU Health system.

This review is for the staff responsible for helping patients with prescriptions. They are very impolite, extremely rude and incompetent. Horrible experience.

I am sure that Dr. Kuemmerle is a decent researcher and author, but he should no longer be seeing patients. I was in dire shape by the time I was able to get an appointment with him, but he made no effort to expedite the tests that I needed. What was worse was that he never even read the tests after they had been completed. Fortunately a doctor performing my last test immediately called a surgeon and I was able to get help three days later. Kuemmerle does not care about patients at all.

Would not treat me! Said I am abanding my previous Dr who was not treating correctly for my Crohns. He was verbally abusive each. Even had my husband present the first visit in having to put this jerk in his place.
