Dr. John Chan, MD

Very rushed. Gave me 3 choices that were all really the same - surgery. Although he is a gynecologist oncologist, he is really just a surgeon and sends you elsewhere when he is done. He may be a good surgeon, but you should go somewhere where all options are on the table and the surgeons work hand in hand with the other treatment doctors. He sent me away to get chemo and by sheer desperation at finding an oncologist to give chemo i found gyn-onc at stanford who told me they dont recommend surgery for 2nd occurence - they recommend immunotherapy. So i am not getting chemo, i am now getting immunotherapy which i could have had without surgery.

If I could give Dr Chan 500 stars I would. Being under his care when I was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare genetic mutation for ovarian cancer is truly one of the things I'm beyond grateful for. Dr Chan is BY FAR, the best doctor and surgeon I could've ever hoped for. Life certainly can take some left turns and I'm eternally grateful for Dr Chan during a very emotionally challenging period in my life. I've seen many "top doctors" in my lifetime and Dr Chan far exceeded my expectations and I looked forward to seeing him at every appointment! His bedside manner sets the gold standard and brought me so much comfort and even joy(!) to what could have easily been a depressing and terrifying situation. Dr. Chan is an excellent surgeon and a kind man .I am very grateful to have him as my Doctor .I could not hope for a better surgeon or Oncologist .He is the best ! I believe I am still here to this day due to his superior skills. I highly recommend the gifted Dr .Chan

Excellent Doctor Who knows what he's doing and can provide it in a compassionate caring manner with excellent supportive services such as nurses and ancillary staff.

In spite of having a benign cancerous free tumor, Dr. Chan performed a complete hysterectomy. I did not agree to the procedure. Apparently, Dr. Chan's inability to communicate is being mitigated by having a nurse reiterate procedures and also taping conversations with family members post surgery. Perhaps Dr. Chan's relatively recent training in communication and safeguards put in place on the part of the hospital have been effective. Please insure that they remain in place if you visit him.

Caring, extremely intelligent, compassionate, skilled, great sense of humor. Those traits all observed while I was facing possible ovarian cancer. If anyone could get that mass out, it would be Dr. chan--and he did! I will be forever grateful.

One of the best doctor experiences I have had. Dr Chan is a fantastic surgeon and very caring and attentive to his patients. He called spoke with me anytime I had questions about my upcoming hysterectomy and he called to check up on me after the surgery numerous times. He did an amazing job and I can tell the incisions will heal wonderfully. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.
