Central canal stenosis
Dr. Cassidy doesn’t smile a lot , but he is a excellent surgeon. Answers all of my questions with no problem. Would highly recommend him for anyone’s back surgery. It’s been a week and I can tell the difference already.

Saved my quality of life
In November 2018 I was referred to Dr Cassidy by Dr Patel of KW. Being right handed I had my spine slowly pushing against my nerves controlling my right arm. This was probably happening for ten years moving slowly against my nerves. I was at the point where I could not lift my right arm above my belly and had to depend on my left hand to shave, brush my teeth. I could not eat, drink even scratch my nose. You get the picture. The day before thanksgiving 2018 Dr Cassidy and Patel preformed a cervical fusion on 3 levels of my spine. Today 4 years later my right side is probably 85% functioning. My atrophy on my right side is practically undetectable. I was deformed from the extreme atrophy on my right upper torso. I would have been happy with 20% functionality. Yeah I had to push myself in the gym, but my body responded, because of the work of Dr Cassidy and Patel. Probably there are many other patients with similar conditions that Dr Cassidy has saved and the public should know .

Lumbar Laminectomy
I had a Lumbar Laminectomy with Dr Cassidy at Venice Hospital in 2018. I acquired two infections, was in the hospital for about two months with IV Antibiotic drips and after four years of physical therapy and all kinds of exercise, I cannot walk more than 100 yards without stopping, due to pain in my hips and upper legs. Dr Cassidy has said he could not do anything more for me. I was a top athlete but have difficulty walking to my mailbox and back. A second opinion from another neurosurgeon indicated nerve damage. Dr Cassidy is abrupt, rude and his bedside manner is awful. I would avoid him.

Rushes into unnecessary surgeries under the guise of emergency. Not driven by what is best for the patient overall. Avoid. Can no way recommend. Did incurable harm to my spine and spinal cord

Best diagnostician in the area!
Dr Cassidy doesn’t talk much while he is evaluating you. He will explain when he finds the cause of your symptoms. I have the utmost confidence in his surgical skills, as both my husband and I have had successful surgeries by him! His staff is super and goes out of their way to assist you with scheduling and follow up.

Outstanding! About 10 years ago Dr. Cassiday removed a cist from my spine and placed pins in my neck due to arthritis. A year or so later he repaired my carpel tunnel to perfection. At age 81 I am still totally pain-free and have total mobility. I went to him because he is an excellent surgeon. I wasn't looking for a buddy. I highly recommend Dr. Cassidy!

My wife had 3 prior back surgeries and surgeons did not want to get involved with further surgery and were befuddled. Dr Cassidy saw her once and reviewed the records and tests and scheduled surgery. He removed all the old surgical hardware implant and the severe pain she was in almost like magic disappeared. John Cassidy is tops.

I’ve had 2 surgeries done by Dr. Cassidy. He is definitely the best in my opinion. He performed back surgery in 2018 which left me pain free and did a neck fusion in 2019 which was successful! He is very good at what he does. His office personnel is top notch!

I took my friend to see Dr. Cassidy this morning for a consult. Her MRI showed many many issues with her back, including bulging & herniated discs & stenosis, to name a few. Dr. Cassidy has zero 'bedside manners" or personality, it was like talking to a fish out of water! He was condescending when referring to the Pain Specialist & the Primary Drs. as their 'inability' to wade through a MRI report! He could have cared less that she was and has been in debilitating pain for almost 3 weeks now, with no relief. He basically sent her off and said let me know if you want surgery or not!?!?!? Regardless of how wonderful he is as a surgeon, it does NOT excuse this rude & dismissive behavior! Needless to say, she will be pushing up her appointment with another neurosurgeon!

If placed with Dr. Cassidy in a work comp capacity be prepared to be extremely disappointed. He will say what work comp wants him to say and release you back to work prematurely. I have multi-level cervical and lumbar bulges/herniations s/p MVA, was hospitalized x2; unable to walk with LE weakness; tingling and numbness and UE weakness; severe pain both upper and lower. Upon DC from hospital I could not walk without a walker. When I saw him in my follow up s/p hospital I had advanced to a cane but remained with severe upper extremity and lower extremity symptoms. He stated I was fine, only had arthritis, answered "I don't know" to my questions and released me back to work with NO work restrictions. This was the 2nd release. The 1st release landed me in the hospital for 4 days. He is not compassionate, empathetic and has no interest in seeing work comp patients unless they are surgical. He works for work comp, not the injured party!!!

I had spinal stenosis, Dr Cassidy fused my L4 and L5. He along with the staff at Dr.’s Hospital in Sarasota did an awesome job on my lower spine. It’s been almost 3 months since my surgery and I’m doing great. He changed my life!! Highly recommended.

After having surgery and going to a pain mgmt specialist for # 1/2 years this past February 2018, I went to Dr John Cassidy. He saw me within a few days, ordered an MRI (which my other Dr's never thought of) ,he reviewed the MRI within a day. Told me to come in and he thoroughly went over the surgery I needed. Within a few days his office got the insurance pre-authorization and I had the surgery at Doctors Hospital. I couldn't believe how smoothly eveyrthing went! My back feels great now.

Both Dr. Cassidy and Dr. Guerin are the best Neurosurgeons in the area! I wouldn't trust anyone else to be in my spine or brain. Thanks to both of them for fixing me up to where I could walk again!

Dr Cassidy read my X rays and found the cause of my tremendous pain in my left leg was a pinched nerve. IL was living on 5-6 pain pills daily. He is the one who spotted that the cause was a cyst that was growing and eating the vertebrae and pinching the nerve. After he removed the cyst I was pain free and have been for two months now. His patient relationship was very personal and caring.

I have seen Dr Cassidy due to ongoing cervical and lumbar disc pain. He ordered a 3 tesla MRI. I was amazed! After several years of poorer MRIs, he knew right away what the problem is and how to fix it. Not only that, my doctors highly recommend him. I'm only awaiting my own home arrangements for surgery. I can only say thank you to this man.

I saw Dr. Cassidy because I was having sciatica in my left leg with severe back pain in the same area where I have a repaired herniated disc. He sent me for an MRI and read the films himself with me and my husband in the office with him. He found the problem (spinal stenosis) and we discussed my options. We were in agreement that an outpatient surgery would be the most likely best option for me. I had the surgery and within the predicted month, was feeling fine! Pain gone. Happy camper.

I have had numerous dealings with Dr.Cassidy for mainly cervical and lumbar issues. He is always willing to answer any questions you want to know. He is on the quite side, but will open up you just have to ask. Very respectful and professional. I am spoiled and would prefer to have him to perform any further issues that may come up down the road for me within his field of specialty. Caring and dedicated Doctor.

In 2013 Dr Cassidy fused L 4 and 5. My pain was much worse after surgery and dr Cassidy was so had to talk to I finally gave up. My pain got so bad I could not walk across the room. Had surgery at Vanderbilt Nashville Tenn October 2015. It was an 8 hour surgery as I had a lot more problems then Cassie diagnosed. I am now pain free. Cassidy did not take the time to give me the proper care I needed.
