To start my husband had cancer of the lungs, then it spread to his throat, chest, & back. Dr. Azar took excellent care of him. He was always available to answer any questions we or I had. He said he enjoyed talking to my husband. When he died he came to see me at the funeral home. When I was diagnosed with cancer of the tonsils he was the one I needed to see. Along with Dr. Chris Rassekh, Dr. Michael Stewart & Dr. Rusiecki I survived. I had to have Chemo, Radiation, & Surgery of both my tonsils & my teeth. I had to have 30 hyper-barbaric treatments to protect my jaw from falling a part when all my teeth were removed before my radiation. Which let me with no teeth & no saliva. At that time I was 64. I am now 81. It was all very traumatic but I survived. It all started with Dr. Azar. Between the 4 of them they saved my life. He told me to come & see him any time, which I have.

He treated my mom after she was diagnosed with lung ca. I went to a couple of appmnts with my mom and I was not impressed. He had been seeing my mom for a couple months before I went to an appointment (I lived 4 hours away) and he didn't even know she had a daughter. He didn't ask who I was during the appmnt. I asked about her condition afterwards and he asked me who I was. How do you treat a cancer patient and not know about their children?? I feel like he treated the disease and not the person. Also, he never talked about hospice with her. She was terminally ill and he NEVER brought it up. My dad went to all appmnts and told me it was never discussed. He also gave her a dose of chemo one week before she died. She had lost > 40 lbs, was not eating well, was falling, and her pain was worse. Why would you give chemo to someone so ill? Also, after she died, we never heard from him again. No sorry for your loss, nothing. I work in palliative care and would not recommend him.

My husband was treated for 3 years by Dr. Azar for esophageal cancer after we moved to Morgantown. His original diagnosis 7 years ago had an average survival rate of 3 months. Dr. Azar was always attentive and caring. My husband and I both trusted his recommendations and his explanations.
