I cannot recommend Dr. John Austin enough. Simply put, he gave me the best experience I have ever gotten from a medical professional, by far. While there was so much more to my experience, his office checked EVERY box on the "What you want out of a doctor" list. Dr. Austin was warm, knowledgeable, good at explaining, didn't rush to conclusions, and genuinely cared about me and my case. Geine, was so sweet and an overall pleasure to work with. Scheduling can be a challenge with my line of work and they were very accommodating. Everyone that I interacted with on the journey spoke very highly of Dr. Austin and assured me I was in great hands. The surgery went great and he followed up with me to make sure I was feeling alright. I'm sure there are a lot of great orthopedic surgeons in the San Diego area, but if you want to be completely confident that you are working with a Doctor that truly cares, I'd go with Dr. Austin.

I had a major knee pain problem last year and I visited Dr. Austin for possible treatment options. Dr. Austin provided me several recommendations and after trying some non-surgical treatments, I finally decided to go with Arthroscopy surgery for treating my condition called Synovial Chondromatosis. After the surgery, the doctor called me several times to ensure my knee was healing properly, he also took several photos to show me how he had to flush out cartilage debris in my knee. His knowledge on the subject matter and his patience in educating me was remarkable. It has been 9 months now after the surgery and my knee is completely healed and I am able to do all my outdoor sports and much more. I was also pleased with his assistant Gina who is genuinely kind and goes out of her way to help patients. Overall, I would strongly recommend Dr. Austin for any Orthopaedic treatment.

I received a bill one year after the service I received. I called Dr. Austin's office to get more information regarding the bill. My insurance changed since this was a year ago and the bill he sent showed my insurance covered 0, so I just wanted to find out why. I was talking to the front office and the doctor took the phone from her and started yelling at me that I need to pay my bill. I never once said I wasn't going to pay it. He wouldn't let me talk and kept interrupting me. All I wanted was an explanation as to why I received a bill a year later, I don't think that is too much to ask. I also wanted an explanation of benefits. I wasn't rude and I didn't threaten to not pay. If he sends a bill a whole year late, I think I have the right to call and question the bill. He has piss poor inter-personal skills. The medical care I received was adequate, but I wouldn't recommend him based on my latest interaction.

This doc is simply amazing. He made it his personal prerogative to make sure he knew exactly what was going on with my wrist. He went above and beyond to get my xrays same day and looked at them immediately. Very smart, very knowledgable. Best doctor experience I've ever had! Thanks again doc.

I had a fracture wrist three months ago. I was very lucky to be able to see Dr. Austin at the time I most needed. From the first appointment till my recovery, Dr. Austin cared attentively and kindly, he let me know the healing progresses and limitations, so exactly that I felt he may have a wrist fracture himself. The nurse Grime and receptionist Brianna were also very caring and friendly, every visit I felt I went to see three friends. My recovery was faster then expected, I truly appreciated that I have received exceptional cares in Dr. Autin’s Office!

I went to see Doc Austin for a second opinion for my knee. Honestly, he was one of the best doctors that I've seen in a long time, he actually took the time to explain me what was going on with my knee and gave me several options before jumping into surgery mode right away. I'm glad that I went to see him.

Dr. John Austin did my total hip replacement which included a fracture and avascular necrosis. His care was immediate, attentive and diligent unlike my experience with New England Orthopedic Surgeons. I only saw a PA(twice) at NEOS and these exams were never verified to me by a physician. I suffered from severe pain and distress for over three months as a result of their inattentive care. In my experience, Dr. Austin is an extremely competent surgeon and caring physician.
