Dr. Alappatt saved my eyesight. I was referred by my optometrist when she saw a tear. The office saw me immediately the next morning. The staff is gentle and kind, they helped me and my family navigate a scary situation. Dr. Alappatt explained everything that was going to happen and guided me through recovery. I’m very thankful for his thoroughness.

My Ophthalmologist recommended me to Dr. John Alappatt for immediate surgery when he found a hole in my retina, and I could not see out of that eye. I was basically blind in one eye, it came on suddenly, and I was frightened. Dr. Alappatt performed a three hour surgery repairing not only the retina hole, but 10 tears (!) that were discovered during surgery. My retina looked shredded in the before pictures. Now, four months later, the retina looks amazing, my eyesight is 20/30 and still improving, and eye pressure is normal. Dr Alappatt is highly professional and meticulous, as well as being calm and reassuring. He has earned my trust, respect, and admiration. I highly recommend him as a retina specialist!

I have been a patient with Dr Alapatt since 2012…… I have followed him from Southwest Memorial to the Katy location and then to Sugar Land location. I highly recommend him has always been very professional to my eye concerns. He is moving to a different location and I will miss him.

I have diabetic retinopathy. My vision went from 20/350 & 20/150 to 20/150 & 20/40 after one year. His staff is very helpful, friendly and well organized. I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to save their vision.

In 2023 I starting having trouble with seeing from my right eye. It was a large shadow. I went to my optomitrist and she said I might have a retina problem. I was able to in the next day with Dr Alappatt and had several tears in my retina and had emergency surjury the next day and he found and used a laser to fix over 40 tears in my retina but the story does not end there a couple months later I had a larger shadow on my other eye. Again I had emergency surgery the next day to fix a 100 tears in my retina. It was a 4 hour surgery. I want to take the time to thank Dr Alappatt for repairing my retina. I might be blind in both eyes if it wasn’t for the doctor and his great staff. All the office visits were great friendly staff. Thank You

On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, Dr. Bernard A. Milstein at The Eye Clinic of Texas-League City referred me to Dr. John J. Alappatt at Houston Retina Associates- Clear Lake "from the best to the best" after I experienced a detached retina that required emergency surgery. Dr. Alappatt scheduled me the next day at Memorial Hermann Surgical Center-Southwest on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. The experience was very hospitable from reception throughout every phase of my care and administered with the focus on the patient. I am over the moon about seeing clearly for the first time in years and applaud Dr. Alappatt's compassion, conscientiousness, creativity, courage, efficiency, leadership, perseverance, professionalism, skills, stamina, support, and trust, and special gift for creating a relaxing atmosphere for his patients during a very anxious and serious moment in their lives! Dr. Alappatt is honest and I highly recommend him! He saved my sight!

The doctor is a good specialist. He saved my left eye when the retina detached and he repaired to almost perfect condition. He has worked on my eyes for the last few years and I would recommend him to anyone with any type of retina disease in the eyes. He saved my eye sight in both of my eyes.

After my retina totally detached, and i was blind in my right eye. Dr. Alappatt did a 4 hour surgery to repair it. He spoke to me during the entire operation explaining why, when he finished, i would regain my full vision and why others, who use other physicians will not and do not gain their vision back and why. He was 100% correct. I GAINED MY FULL VISION BACK. I have met other people that did not fair as well. This guy is Great!!

I have had detached retinas in both eyes. The first was a botched job by a surgeon in the Med Center. Dr. Alappatt was able to repair what the first surgeon did and clean up scar tissue saving my sight. When the retina in the other eye detached, he came in from vacation and did the surgery. I have 20/20 vision in that eye. Wonderful doctor who truly cares about his patients.

Last September (2019) the lens in my right eye disconnected itself. The lens was sewn into my eye about 12 years ago during cataract surgery. I was referred to Dr. Alappatt as I needed a good retina surgeon. Dr Alappatt was able to save my vision. The surgery was more complicated and grueling than expected. Dr. Alappatt persevered, dealing with unexpected challenges. I appreciate his expertise, knowledge and work ethic.

Dr. Alapatt performed 2 vitrectomy/ retina hole surgeries on my eyes about 2 years ago and saved my eyesight! He accepted Health Marketplace insurance and traveled from Sugarland to Clear Lake on his lunch hour to honor my insurance. I am happy to say I can see very well now. Thank you Dr. Alapatt!

Went in to see Dr. Alappatt, to find out I had a detached & torn retina. Wanted to operate that morning but I had already eaten.
