Doesn’t believe in women’s bodily autonomy
I went to Smart for an annual physical. During that exam, I mentioned I had gotten my tubes tied 5 years earlier. For some reason, she felt the need to tell me that she wouldn’t have allowed me to do that, and became so incredibly condescending. She told me I was “mature for my age” (I was 31 at the time). I was so incredibly outraged that she felt the need to disrespect me over a procedure that I had done so long ago and that I’m STILL so happy I got done. As a woman, I wouldn’t use Smart for any medical needs.

Terrible bedside manner. Misdiagnosed my husband twice. He could have died. Thankfully, we were able to find a doctor who cared to do thorough examination.

Dr. Joanne Smart is "WITHOUT A DOUBT" the most wonderful, caring, persistent and caring Doctor that our Family has EVER had!!! This WONDERFUL lady has been so caring, effective, and gone above her call to ensure that our Family has the very best treatment. We moved to Bedford in 1999, while still on active duty in the military. With no other Family in the area, she immediately took care of our 3 Daughters, and has given the most professional medical care available, along with her personal care

She flat out made me feel like crap. The things she said and the way she acted is like she thought I was a meth addict! She looked at me and ask if I had dentures, when I said yes she asked why! I lost my teeth because of loss of calcium because of having my babies so close together but she didn't want to believe me. She said she needed a urine test and told me not to lie to her and try to hide anything. I took her urine test to show her I am a mother of 5 grandmother of 2 and not a drug seeker!
