I think Dr. Barclay is wonderful.
Dr. Barclay listened to me when I described my back pain. She was very patient and compassionate. I had a procedure done which didn't work for me, but got another appointment with her, and in that appointment, she figured out another way to relieve my back pain, and now I am pain free. I am so grateful to Dr. Barclay! I also want to commend the ladies who answer the phone for Dr. Barclay; they are always so nice.

She spent more time talking into her recorder than explaining anything to me. I went to her for a first time treatment, long time problem but nothing was ever explained to me about the procedure she wanted to do. Wasn't until the hospital called me to explain I had to be in outpatient area, receive a drug cocktail for twilight anesthesia and would be groggy for possibly a few days. None of this was told to me at the dr's office, and had to cancel since I am in no position to have this done while taking care of a special needs child. Would not recommend at all as she really does not talk to you even when right in front of her

After reading the reviews I was hesitant about going to her, however I have now learned most reviews seem to be from patients who are not happy for personal reason. I was very happy with the total experience. I could tell she has years of experience and is knowledgeable. Her whole staff were the very best. She does take the time to answer important questions, however if people want to waste her valuable time on to much irrelevant information she does a good job of keeping the conversation on topic and what is important for her as well as her being the professional important conversion so you receive the best of care. I had injections for my lower back and very happy it was a breeze I was in severe pain when I came in and even tho it is only the day after I feel great. If you are looking for a medical doctor who tries to help you with pain and use medication only minimal and only when needed, and would rather use her skills to help your pain I would give her a 5 star rating. !

Run, don't walk, away from this clinic. She will sell multiple steroid shots and MRIs but won't listen to you. If you're looking for pain relief through the normal way--appropriate medication requiring monthly visits--you won't get it here. She treats patients like drug addicts. I've been to several pain clinics and have never been treated so unfairly and rudely. I guess I'll keep looking for a competent pain specialist. Can't seem to find one who will take my insurance in Elgin.

Do not go to this dr, no bed side manner. No compassion. Do not listen when you give answers to her questions. She is rude and hurtful.. she should not even be a dr. She is not in the business of helping people. She asks the same questions over and over with out listening to the answer. Do not go to this dr if you want any type of help

I find the negative reviews difficult to believe. Dr. Barclay spends time with me, examines me, listens and makes recommendations. I have seen her for years, getting my injections and a spinal cord simulator implanted. She is very personable and I love everyone in her office. They are all awesome. Even on the other side of the room, when going in for a procedure, that entire staff upfront and in the back are also all awesome. I would not want to go anywhere else. I recommend her to all.

After meeting with Dr. Barclay it was immediately brought to my attention that she was going to be very difficult to work with, my feeling is she has zero soft skills/people skills and trying to communicate with her was extremely difficult and emotional for both me and my wife. I came in with back pain and I also deal with anxiety and depression being bipolar. I felt after she realized I was bipolar, she wanted nothing to do with me. She literally stood up and mocked my anxieties.

After seeing 5 different doctors she finally brought me relief from debilitating tailbone pain!!! I was at the end of my rope every doctor was telling me nothing is wrong. Like I'm liking spending all my time and money on doctors for fun? She finally treated my tailbone pain with steroids and I can function again. I'm not talking about taking narcotics to mask the pain, I'm talking about treating the pain. She is the best doctor, knowledgeable, efficient and smart! I can't thank her enough!!

When I was in pain Dr. Barclay came into my room and asked me what she wanted me to do. She said I can take you off of all of your pain medicine or that is it. She became visibly upset, and did not believe that I was in any pain. I refuse to see her any time I am hospitalized. I feel VERY unsafe in her care.

I have been seeing Dr Barclay for a few years now for chronic back and leg pain stemming from bulging discs, arthritis and a previous surgery for a compression fracture in the spine. She is very understanding, knowledgeable, and spends ample time with patients without feeling rushed and is sincerely compassionate . I have been a patient at Mayo clinic and Rush in Chicago and was very lucky to be referred to her. I have had several minor procedures all with great success!!!
