Great Doctor and even better staff!
Before I went to Dr. Opoku-Anane I had a cancer scare that required me to see an oncologist first which led to me being referred to a fibroid/endometriosis surgeon. Listen, I’m a very chill and relaxed person on the surface, but internally I was reeling from all of information that I received prior to first meeting Dr. Opoku-Anane, so when I finally got the appointment I was so happy to deal with people that were so relaxed and easy to communicate with. I was told exactly what steps I needed to take to get through the surgery and beyond. My surgery wasn’t an easy one, I had huge fibroids 14cm + 10cm and two smaller ones, I also had stage 4 endometriosis that created a ton of scar tissue. The doctor was able to salvage one of my Fallopian tubes and clear out the endo. She took the extra time needed instead of just giving me a c-section cut which I’m sure would have been a lot easier and less time consuming. Dr. Opoku-Anane and her staff were amazing through and through. Thank you Doc

Left me feeling doubts about the care I received
I saw Dr. Opoku-Anane in 2020 after an MRI indicated that I may have endometriosis. She told me I had stage 4 endo that required excision surgery and strongly recommended that I get a hysterectomy. The procedure would take 4-6 hours. I decided not to go forward with the hysterectomy last minute. The day of my procedure she showed up so late that I didn't even get to talk to her at all. I was only in the OR for 90 minutes, and when I came to, no one could give me an explanation on why it was so short. She never called my spouse to tell him what happened during surgery. They said they only found minimal endo. I kept asking to speak with the surgeon, but no one would let me talk to her. She kept canceling my post op appointments and then she didn't even remember who I was by the time we finally talked again. I'm so glad I didn't go forward with the hysterectomy. I continue to be in pain daily despite the procedure.

She changed my life for the better!! I was in so much pain with a fibroid and the service I got was above the rest. Trust me she cares anyone who says otherwise would be just untrue. My care was top notch! Her expertise got me through my hysterectomy, I opted to leave my ovaries and even though when she went in they were fused to my uterus she took the extra 2-3 hours to make sure I kept my ovaries. She said she told me that was going to happen and she went the extra mile. 3 day recovery.

I chose Dr. Opoku-Anane because of her excellent education history and specialty designation. I found her to be extremely professional, thorough, and especially accommodating. I confessed my ‘issues’ with invasive procedures. She and her staff were able to accommodate me same-day, since I had come a long way for treatment. I had an in-office hysteroscopy and endometria biopsy all with local anesthetic. It was a painless experience. And, I am a nervous patient! Highly recommended!

One of the most uncaring and unhelpful doctors Ive ever had the unfortune of having to deal with. I found myself apologizing her to repeatedly because I was in pain and teared up in her office, she basically rolled her eyes when I was describing my symptoms and challenged half the things I said to her about my medical history. Cold, indifferent, I left this appointment feeling worse about my health condition then when I went in, acted like my symptoms were an inconvenience to her schedule.

Indifferent to me. Judgmental. Because I teared up when describing my pain, she said I was too emotional about my pain and that she would not treat me unless I had a psychological evaluation. I found a new doctor and about two months later ended up not only with a hysterectomy for adenomyosis, but extensive endometriosis which was excised. I have been pain free since my surgery. So grateful I found an informed doctor. I found Dr. Opoku-Anane untrained, uncaring about older patients.

I never got the sense that she cared about me or why I was there. The only time she actually touched me was to say hello - no actual exam. Most of our time was spent with me helping her fill out my profile on the computer. No compassion. Extremely disappointed. I can only image she has a "type" of patient that she likes and anyone outside of this purview is a waste of her time - I certainly felt it.
