Dr. Jesse McCann, MD

Dr. McCann was very nice and professional. His staff was able to get me an appointment very quickly. He lasered my eye the same day that I saw him. I highly recommend him.

Went to Dr. McCann with detached retina, and he advised going to the ER at SMH or Tampa General. Went to SMH ER where he refused to care for me. After speaking to ER doctor, he begrudgingly responded. Fifteen minutes before surgery he berated me for not going to Tampa General. He does not treat patients with care or concern. I would avoid this doctor. I am currently seeing Dr. Skopis, and he is wonderful.

Dr McCann has always been helpful, courteous and knowledgeable about my retina issues. Wish him well in his new position. Five stars all around.

Dr.McCann actually read and reviewed my medication list and went over the interactions that were causing me to continue to see flashes due to incorrect timing of the medicines i have to take daily. My neurologist of over 15 years has not even talked ti me about this. There arent enough stars offered to give him.He is the best in his field,without question!!

My father has never been treated so unprofessionally as he was today by Dr McCann. Apparently he was running late due to an accident on the Interstate. Rather than the staff notifying patients when they were first brought back, my father was left to sit for almost 40 minutes. When he was finally called back, I mentioned the doctor being behind schedule. I gave Center for Sight an "F" rating for today's visit. When Dr McCann finally showed up in the exam room he said that we had no right to treat his staff the way we did. Not sure what I did wrong but grade them. He then said "Find another doctor." Needless to say, my father will not be seeing Dr McCann ever again. I will not allow him to treat an 89 year old person the way he did. Steer clear of this unprofessional person. Since he works in an elderly population, he needs to treat those people, who are his customers, with a little more respect. It is just common courtesy.

Excellent. My husband had a sudden loss of vision in his R eye. We saw doctor McCann who outlined the treatment plan, took time with us, answered questions. The whole team from the receptionists to the surgical staff were professional, kind and courteous. We felt well taken care of.

Incredible Dr And staff. One of the best in the country. I’ve been to Atlanta and Birmingham eye drs and they are so far behind dr McCann in tech and training. Absolutely the best!

Unfortunately, I was disappointed in my experience with Dr. McCann. I moved to Sarasota in February of 2020 and saw Dr. McCann three times I have vision problems in one eye. On the first appointment the doctor came in and asked me what’s going on. I had to direct him to all of the notes and medical records I had sent from my previous practice and I said there’s a lot going on and then he took 10 minutes to read the notes. Shouldn’t he have done that before or came and and read the notes. I have had two subsequent appointments and both lasted 5 minutes. All of my previous doctors, ophthalmologist or otherwise have always spent time to talk and discuss issues I decided I needed to go to another doctor in the practice

I was in for a routine exam with Dr Sowka & he found an unexpected issue. He talked to Dr. McCann’s scheduler who worked to fit me in between appointments. Dr McCann did a re-exam & agreed to do the laser surgery then & there. Both doctors explained everything well & as I was nervous, not liking anything near my eyes, were very empathetic. It wasn’t as bad as I imagined & when thanking him he was humble & said it’s my job. I would highly recommend Dr McCann definitely!

Dr. McCann is very competent and very reassuring. He is caring and has a great bedside manner He goes the extra mile for his patients as he fit me into his tight schedule to deal with my issue a couple of times.

I have issues with vitreous fluid causing blurriness and it seemed to have gotten worse. I have a family history of blindness due to MD so am very concerned with regard to any eye issues. Due to Covid 19, patient visits were limited but this doctor did agree to see me. Rather than reassuring that I had not gotten worse and he could do surgery once the pandemic was over, he immediately started yelling at me for being in the office over something that he could take care of at a later date. He continuously said that "my generation"is extremely selfish and all he hears is "me, me, me".! He told me to find something to occupy my time and said to "go home and read a book". Needless to say I would never have such a hot tempered doctor take care of anything with regards to my health. Other Center For Sight doctors are excellent. Avoid this mean tempered person. His practice is in a retirement area of Florida. "My generation" makes up the bulk of his patients.
