Dr Winell is one of a kind
I feel lucky to have been under Dr Winell's care! Im honestly surprised by some of the low ratings. Dr Winell never rushed the time, if anything would run over (granted this was purely during pandemic times over video). For the assessment he took the full hour and subsequent visits would run over a little if needed. (w/ other psych MDs, you're lucky to get 5 mins of attention) I appreciate his Oncology focus bc he truly understands PTSD and would never downplay it (which other psych MDs have done). Speaks with a soft tone, explains things thoroughly. Trusts you and lets you be an active participant in your care. Responsive, would call back the next biz day. Some of this seems so simple and should be a given, but its not. Dr Winell truly stands out in his field and he's by far the best psych practitioner I've met. I've never met a Psych MD that so thoroughly assesses patients each time. He would sometimes provide more psychotherapy than my talk therapist in our appts

An empathetic, competent, and careful doctor who listens to you attentively, suggests reasonable measures that are not always profitable to himself and leaves to the patient the autonomy to decide on next steps. I would certainly recommend this intelligent MD to family and friends.
