Knowledgeable, Competent, Caring
Always honest..."put off surgery as long as you can"...not trying to hustle you...finally says "your knee is at the end of the line...surgery now". Appreciate the honesty, candor, putting patient before his wallet. Called several times in the week after surgery to ensure I was okay - not just his nurse or PA, HE called. Most telling, his reputation in the medical community (like with the physical therapists who follow up after his surgery) are UNANIMOUS in their praise.

I was referred to him from the ER after I broke my wrist. He performed surgery on it and I have not had a pain-free day in almost 3 years. 6 months after the surgery when I asked for a steroid injection, he told me he wasn't a hand specialist. So why did he perform the surgery? Totally incompetent.

It takes months to actually get a procedure performed. You're likely to see his PA. I had severe knee pain. X-rays were taken. Nothing was indicated to be wrong. Suggestions such as seeing a chiropractor were given. NEVER was an MRI even suggested. When I actually got to see another orthopedic surgeon in another town, an MRI was ordered, showing part of knee bone missing due to the blood supply cut off caused by a fall. Would not recommend DR. Tarter.

Dr. Tarter is not only a great orthopedic surgeon but a great person. At my follow-up appointment, he not only helped me but also my husband who did not have an appointment and couldn’t get an appointment until weeks later. He went above and beyond. He listens to his patients and genuinely cares. He explains X-rays, procedures, and next steps. I can’t say enough wonderful things about him! I’m truly thankful and blessed and so appreciative for his kindness.

Dr. Tarter takes a very methodical approach and tried to resolve my problem with the least invasive treatment possible. He only recommends surgery after he has exhausted other options. He also did a better job of communicating with me than any other doctor I have used.
