Where to begin?
There are not enough characters to leave the scathing review that Dr. Payne deserves. Suffice to say, that he insisted that I had a stroke. Didn't matter that I never had stroke symptoms. If he had bothered to read the MRI report, it said that it looked like a malignant mass, no mention of a stroke. My neurologist back home in L.A. is still pissed ad how this was handled. Three radiologists, my neurologist, and two neurosurgeons all concur that I have a low-grade glioma, and are shocked that anyone would diagnose me with a stroke. He also refused to perform an EEG, which I had done back home in L.A., and guess what? Yep, seizures at the tumor site. In my opinion, avoid Dr. Payne, and see a neurologist in Phoenix, if you live in Arizona. I am forever grateful that I live in Los Angeles, and was only passing through. He would still be treating me for a stroke, while my brain cancer would be going untreated!

I had a video appointment with Dr. Payne this morning as a followup to a hospital stay last month. He was very easy-going and took his time with all my questions, which actually weren't many as he explained everything with such clarity that most of my questions were answered before I even had to ask them. He really listened and never made me feel rushed. He was very kind and knowledgeable and his answers were straight forward and easy to understand. I have great confidence in his ability and experience!

Dr. Payne is knowledgeable and good to work with. However his office staff is amongst the poorest I’ve experienced in 40+ years of seeing physicians of varying specialties. His current assistant is difficult to get a call back from, most likely you will never hear from her. She is unpleasant, condescending, and seems to offer advice without consulting Dr. Payne, who then questions why you made a decision without realizing it was based on his assistant’s information. Not at all patient friendly.
