Excellent Doctor
I have been a patient of Dr. Bertsch for a year and a half. I have every confidence in her practice. Dr. Bertsch is very responsive to my Patient Portal requests. Would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a highly competent Internal Medicine doctor.

Super judgmental if you have a mental health dx
She’s a cold fish who couldn’t give a dam* if you are diagnosed with depression, anxiety, or anything else “mental.” She assumes everything relates back or is due to your mental health dx. COLD. Does keep appointments available for urgent visits. Would rather go to urgent care.

Love her
Excellent . She is extremely sensitive to my needs. She makes me feel as though I am her patient. Her response time very quick. I usually hear back from her on the same day and sometimes within the hour. She always has time for me. She also gives me options so I can be an active participant in my own health care

I experienced Dr. Bertsch as rude and unprofessional. I went to her for a referral. I was yelled at and scolded that she was the doctor and would decide if I needed a referral. I had a lump in my breast and a family history of breast cancer. I knew I needed the referral as that was the only way my insurance company would pay for the mammogram. I felt forced into doing a breast exam with her. I didn't want her touching my body after yelling at me but that was the only way I could get the referral. This was my last visit with her

She does not refill prescriptions in a timely manner. The first refill of meds she gave me a pen but no pen needles! During Covid in March I elected to self quarantine. I have done so for over six months because I am elderly and in a high risk category. I have now asked for my insulin repeatedly and talked to the pharmacist, the receptionist( who said 3 times time she would ask the doctor for my meds), the doctor's assistant also asking for my meds and the rude nurse. I asked them all to renew my scrips. This doctor wants me to come in to the office, and I have explained I will not come to a fourth floor office thru the bldg. vestibule and elevator to do that. Last evening after a full day without my insulin the nurse told me she would send in the order and she did not.She said the Dr. wants to Zoom with me once a month. I had no idea what that was and had to get help setting it up. I think this is like medical blackmail. YOU do this and I will fill your prescription.

If you have medical anxiety or are a sensitive person do not use Dr. Bertsch as your physician. She is very impersonal, easily irritated and does not have a good bedside manner. If it isn't necessarily an important factor for you she is a good physician.

If you want a doctor who sends you for expensive diagnostic tests and then NEVER returns your phone calls to share the results with you, then call Dr. Bertsch. I understand doctors don't get paid for the time they spend on phone calls but I am only asking for 5 minutes of her time to share the results with me.

A friend recommended Dr Bertsch as I was searching for a new primary care physician. She was terrific. She took LOTS of time taking my medical history and discussing options for various concerns. She made recommendations I had not heard from other physicians. Highest recommendation!
