Dr. Jeffrey Tiemstra, MD

Dr. Tiemstra is non-conversational and unenthusiastic, bordering on completely uninterested in anything you have to say. He does not come off warm, friendly or welcoming - and overall just presents himself poorly. Health insurance costs too much to suffer this level of care. Find a doctor that will at least smile and shake your hand!

I needed a new PCP since my doctor left to pursue a career change. Dr Tiemstra was nearby and in the same facility as my old PCP. I have several medical issues, diabetes being the worst of them. I made an appt to get established with him and it was time for my regular lab work to be done (As of March, it had been 7 months since my last labs. These are usually done every 3 months give or take). I brought up a concern I had for a possible new issue. He actually GIGGLED at me! He NEVER listened to my heart or lungs. Which every PCP I have had in the past did this at EVERY VISIT. He tells me to come back in 3 months and to have my labs done at that time. I need a refill for my diabetic meds. I received a call from his nurse he was changing the dosage of my meds (which was not discussed). I take metformin, 2 – 500mg Extended Release twice a day. The nurse informs me he is refilling for a 1000mg tab twice a day instead. He obviously doesn’t know his meds. Per my insurance and the pharmacy, they do not make the 1000mg in extended release. If it is not the ER, the meds make me very sick. I told his nurse this and that the refill needs to be for the 500mg tabs. I have Medicare insurance. One of their requirements is to have medical questionnaire completed with the doctor once year. He told me when I come back in 3 months, we can do it then. I would not recommend this doctor. Instead, RUN, don’t trust a doctor who will blatantly giggle at you.

Doctor was very good and prompts with visit time, was very thorough by going through everything and explained in more detail his process of thinking. He went through everything quickly had a good sense of humor and was knowledgeable. I wish more people would actually write reviews instead of just negative ones. I think you'll be pretty satisfied if you schedule with him.

Saw him while he was overseeing a medical student that I had already been seeing for a few months. He treated her like she didn't know what she was doing even though she inserted by birth control insert perfectly. He barely said a word to me in the process.

The worst expirience I've ever had at a Doctors office! The nurse made me repeat details of my surgery about 5 diff times. They didn't know why I was there, 3 days post op and clearly did not look at my chart before before entering the room. Dr was not listening to anything I was telling him infact argued, No bedside manner.
