After 20 years of seeing various bipolar specialists, Dr. Rakofsky stands head and shoulders above any other doctor I've encountered. Thoughtful, kind, respectful, and exceptionally skilled in diagnosis and medication management, he treats the whole person, not just the illness. He contributes extensive research to Emory, giving him a profound expertise in the psychiatric conditions he treats. I trust him more than any other doctor I've ever known. You're in excellent hands if you're fortunate enough to have him as your doctor.

I have been under his care for 10 years and he is excellent. The Emory Clinic saved my life, with a chronic dual diagnosis, it takes time to find the right medications and we worked through it together. He is genuine, professional and extremely knowledgeable. He is supportive, courteous and kind. I definitely recommend Dr. Rakofsky.

Do NOT see this Doctor. He is terrible and ruined an opportunity for me to finally get my life back. I was misdiagnosed and given several different types of medication because he did not know what he was doing. He is arrogant and lacks empathy. Not a fit for someone battling for their life.

As a bipolar patient, I am grateful for Dr. R. He is expert, nonjudgemental, compassionate, and one of the best listeners I've ever met. He presents options, opinions (from experience and backed by research), I express my concerns, and we collaboratively devise a plan. I know I am in good hands bc he is respectful and caring and on top of his field: he brings up relevant research as it comes out, so that I have more tools to deal with my condition. I recommend Dr. R with the highest enthusiasm

I have been a patient for over 4 years, and have always had the best service with him . He wants you to be a part of your health plan and yet makes sure you are taken care of. If I ever have to call him for a question or concern, he gets back to me the same day, and helps me even get medicine put into my Pharmacy quicker than anyone else I've known. An amazing dr!!!

I would not recommend this psychiatrist to friends nor enemies. I am currently in the process of appealing the 400 dollar bill from him. He is curt, judgmental and does not adhere to the APA Ethical Guidelines Section 1, "...providing competent medical care WITH COMPASSION and RESPECT FOR HUMAN DIGNITY AND RIGHTS."
