Neurologis Dr Horstmyer is the most caring doctor
Dr. Horstmyer is the kind of person who goes through every single detail of your condition and beyond that. In my case I also suffer from back pain, he has help me tremendously to resolve this, my condition makes you feel depressed and lack of enthusiasm, well he is always seriously caring about these feelings, as part of his medical treatment which could not be better, he wants you to have a full happy and positive life. For me Dr. Horstmyer is the very best.

This is one of the worst doctors I’ve ever been to. I went in because I couldn’t walk, (sudden onset) was having speech issues and I am not that old. He dismissed me and said it may be HIV (not even a remote possibility). He did no tests and was rude.I went to other neurologists and I had acquired ataxia which I am now in treatment for. He did nothing to try and diagnose and was a complete waste of time and told me things were in my head. He should be out of practice.

Did not understand the good reviews
I do not recommend this doctor. I went to see him after a recent onset of migraines. I did not understand the condition or many of my new symptoms. I was not under any medication. This doctor took 2 personal calls while evaluating me for the first time. He did not educate me on migraines or any plan of care. He seems too busy to discuss these new symptoms that are disrupting my life. He sent me 2 strong medications without any explanation of possible side effects and told me I had migraines. When I called him regarding the medication he never called me back. I drove from Palm Beach County to see him for an entire 10 minutes. It turns out that I have chronic vestibular migraines that can mimic a stroke with Meniere's disease. Very scary symptoms. If he would have stopped talking on the phone and paid attention to his new patient perhaps this visit would not have been a waste of time.

My opinion, no good.
Went to see him because I was diagnosed with MS. He has no manners. Received and answered personal calls on his cell during my consultation. When deciding on medication, he just gives me a list of drugs, that only contained names and frequencies of applications. How can I figure out which one with this little information. THANK GOD, I WENT TO ANOTHER NEUROLOGIST!

I was shocked to see this review from my sister,on my mothers hospital visit on 2/18/17. Yes my Mother had an UTI infection but was hallucinating wildly and very anxious. My sister who at the time was in charge of her doctors and medication had her at the same time on opioids for hip pain and sleeping medication as well as medication to keep her alert during the day. Add to that, the Parkinson medication. As a result my Mother was a drugged out near comatose during the day and with increasing needs of sleeping pills at night. No single doctor monitored all the medications. Dr. Horstmeyer used what in my opinion was the correct approach. He treated her uti and weaned her off all the drugs minus her parkinsons which he reduced and her diabetes medication. The results were incredible. After being dependent on sleeping pills for five years she no longer needs them(2 yrs later) . She was wide alert. The change was so great that my mother now only has me managing her meds. Pls disregard her

I'm giving this Physician two stars because of his ARNP, not because of him. She spent a decent amount of time with me, asked me everything and did a thorough assessment. However, I spent two minutes with him, he prescribed anti-depressants for my migraines and called it a day. Gave me no instructions, did not tell me what he was prescribing nor how often to take or any useful information. Simply said he'd see me in three months if it was necessary.

If you love your elderly relative, this is not your doctor! My mother is 89 years old and has alzheimers. She was recently hospitalized for pneumonia, was released, and doing well at home. We took her to Dr. Horstmyer for a checkup. He said that she should not be taken to the hospital again. To let whatever she has "run its course". In other words, let her die of pneumonia. As an analogy, he used his dog and stated that he determined that when the dog could no longer eat on its own, let it die

Dr Horstmyer is extremely communicative and an excellent listener in regard to my view of the situation.. He is very thorough and patient with my unique case. At least that is the way I feel. AS I find him flexible and willing to change views and options as we go along. I am greatly encourage by this.....as he never gives up on me. His Office Assistant, Rosemary has been extraordinarily patient and empathetically communicative. She is a JEWEL.

Beware of this Dr.! On my mother's recent admission 2/18/17 to Mercy Hospital he visited my mother because she was having hallucinations due to a UTI and pain from sciatica. My sister told him that mother's Parkinson's RX wasn't doing her any good and that her cholesterol RX was giving her muscle pain. She had been on both RX for 5 years with great success and no side effects. He actually took her off both medications without consulting with her Drs. or reading the medical records which he had!
