Outstanding
Dr. Dorf was very thorough in his communication and answered all my questions. He is candid, direct and was Frank in all his communication. It’s hard to find that these days. I must admit, most of what he told me, I needed to hear from him because I know my smoking habit is not only bad for me but creating all these issues in my life.

The Pulmonologist I originally went to when I was 1st diagnosed with COPD was horrible. He was rude, yelled at me and often made me cry. I have been seeing Dr. Dorf for several years. He is absolutely wonderful. He is kind, compassionate, very thorough and professional. He always takes the time to answer all my questions. I never feel rushed. When reviewing my test results, he explains them in a way that I can understand. I am extremely grateful for Dr. Dorf, and I would l not hesitate to recommend him to family or friends.

Great lung doctor
Dr. Dorf has been my pulmonologist since 2014 when I was diagnosed with IPF. He is a very professional and caring doctor who knows that his patients are dealing with a progressive disease that will never get better. He does, however, endeavor to help patients understand their disease and the process that they will go through as the result of the disease. He answers questions clearly and in language that is understandable. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a good pulmonologist who has extensive medical knowledge and will provide excellent care for his patients.

Excellent Pulmonary Doctor
Our mother was taken to the ER in Albuquerque four years ago with breathing issues. Dr. Dorf happened to be the doctor assigned to her after admission. He ran numerous tests on mom and she was ultimately diagnosed with IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis). We asked for him to remain her doctor, and he obliged. Our mother is with us today because of Dr. Dorf's dedication and expertise in this field. We live in Grants, NM, (an hour and fifteen minutes from Albuquerque) and would take mom to her appointment every three or six months to receive quality care from Dr. Dorf. He is straightforward and will answer any questions you may have. Sometimes the truth is hard to hear, but in the end, it is appreciated and manageable. Our only regret is having to say goodbye. Mom saw him for the last time before his retirement on June 9th. Our family will forever be grateful to Dr. Dorf and all he did for our mother. God bless

Excellent Physician
Four years ago my mother was told by a different doctor, she had pulmonary fibrosis so she was put on oxygen. A few weeks went by and my mother’s health was deteriorating so we took her to ER at Lovelace Women’s. Dr. Dorf was the doctor who treated her while she was in the hospital for those five days. At the time he ran tests, asked a lot of questions, and created a health plan that ultimately saved her life. Dr. Dorf is an honest, caring, and exceptional doctor who has gone above and beyond for my mother. Recently my mother was not feeling well, and we took her back into his office. Once again, he ran more tests and discovered an issue , unrelated to her lung disease. He immediately called that evening to let us know she needed immediate medical attention, and we need to to take her to the ER. While she was in the ER, he made sure his office was in contact with them. We are deeply saddened to hear Dr. Dorf is retiring. We will always thank him for saving our mother’s life!

I've been a pt of Dr Dorf's for about 10yrs. I owe my life literally to him. He brought me back from deaths bed in Jan.'17 & kept me healthy alive long enough to receive a bilateral lung transplant in July '21. He continues to work at keeping me & my new lungs healthy & strives to do all He can to give me the best life possible. He takes time with his patients, explains things so his pt can understand, tries to address their concerns, involves the family & treats each patient as an individual. You may not always at first agree with his treatment plan as was my experience because he changed many of my meds & methods of administration, but you will find out as I did that, he's doing what he needs to get or keep you well & help you get the results you're looking for. I'll miss Dr Dorf as I move to a new state & new insurance. I only hope I can find another doctor who is somewhere near as compassionate about their patients. Hope you'll consider him if looking for a new Pulmonologist.

Dr Dorf MD
Dr Dorf is an excellent Pulmonologist. He’s not a hold your hand Dr. Which is good!! He listens carefully to the patient and invokes you in his thought process concerning your disease. He’s patient and extremely focused on your well being. I have stage 4 COPD and with Dr Dorf care I have not been hospitalized in over 4 years. Never rushed or my concerns dismissed. Great Dr

Bizarre and rude.
This guy was too busy putting down my dad for being a former smoker, making odd accusations, and making up bizarre scenarios that he wouldn't listen to anything we had to say. No matter what we said, he argued with us, made a snide comment or belittled us. We tried to keep it positive and redirect the conversation 3 or 4 times and when we finally called him on his behavior he got pouty and weirder. He apologized but within a few minutes was back to attacking my dad about his life, his health, his past smoking, his other doctors, my mom (who wasn't there and whom he's never met). It was, by far, the most bizarre encounter I've ever had with a doctor. Hopefully he really is retiring and he can go be a terrible person somewhere outside the medical field and away from people.

My visit was a great experience. Dr Dorf is a very well educated doctor. He has a very pleasant personality. Above all he listens to what you have to say which is rare these days. I was extremely happy with my visit especially since I read so many negative reviews. I had to realize that most people who leave reviews is because they are unhappy.

Queen of Non Compliance – Jun 16, 2020

This man has no business working with people. He has no empathy for patients and is very quick to jump to the worst diagnosis without an actual diagnosis from the proper channels. He will trick you into signing a DNR and send you home on hospice so he doesn't have to deal with you again. Thankfully, we sought other avenues and was pleasantly surprised to find out, he was wrong. As we expected. If he has told you you have no hope, or implied it, GET A SECOND OPINION!
