Dr. Jefferson Schott, MD

My sister & her husband went away for an important trip & i took care of her daughter. I had numbers to call in case of an emergency. Her daughter got so very sick i called her Dr. at NorthShore Medical Group in Highland Park IL. . I told the operator what was going on i asked to speak with Dr. Schott he told me his nurse would call me back. I begged them to not call my sister because she was away & i did not want her to worry. I gave him my cellphone #num. i received no call backs until 3 days later the nurse called my sister late in the afternoon but not me she clearly did not read my message. My sister was so scared about the message she heard. My sister told me she took her daughter to 3 other Doctors at this group & she had problems with all of them. The 4th Dr. she saw before Dr. Schott was Dr. John Sultan my sister said his nurse was so rude & he was not that good, looks like Dr. Schott is no better. Calls should be returned in a timely manner patients do not deserve this.

Messages and phone calls are either not relayed accurately and timely, or they are not acted upon by the Dr. I waited 4-5 days for any kind of advice on an urgent condition, and never was able to have a conversation to discuss treatment options, only a prescription issued on day 4. The situation could have had serious results due to their lack of communication if I had not contacted another physician ( non-NorthShore) for advice and a better prescription for my needs.

Jefferson Schott has been my primary care physician almost since he entered private practice. He is an excellent diagnostician whose focus is on wellness. .... and he is accessible. I recommend him highly.

Dr. Schott has a very calm demeanor, easy to speak with and seems to be very up-to-date on the latest procedures.

I recently saw doctor Schott for my annual physical. I brought up a number of concerns, many of which were ignored. He seemed not to bother even looking at my chart, such as when I brought up two major issues that have recently been diagnosed. He asked if they were real diagnoses. I said, "They're on my chart. I take medicine because of them. You didn't see them?". He thought one result was low, when in actuality the numbers were borderline high. He has no idea at all.

Do not see this doctor..

My first experience with this doctor was superb!! The following two visits were beyond terrible. Not only did he ignore my issues but had barely anything to say to me during the visit. My last visit he responded with an email and basically once again offered no help at all!!..I had to go to the Emergency room today and I have some serious issues going on. I am appalled at the way I was mistreated and ignored and would not recommend this doctor to anyone.. shame on you

He’s a great doctor but needs to try calling himself on the phone sometime. Because then he’d realize that getting in touch is comparable to calling Comcast or AT&T. Phone operators often get message scrambled, nurses rarely call back and Dr. apparently never gets message. .

I followed Dr. Schott from his previous group because of his high level of expertise and care. I am completely satisfied with his care and help over many years. He is knowledgable, but unlike many practitioners, he really listens to his patient and tailors his care.
