Dr. Jay McDonald, MD

I was rear ended and in pain, and researched the most respected and knowledgeable pain M.D.’s in the greater Memphis area. Dr. McDonald’s name kept being referred to me from friends he had treated so I made an appointment with him. I found him to be a gentleman and highly knowledgeable. He described what was causing my pain upon viewing my X-Ray, MRI & CT scans. He then recommended a plan of action to follow & I am so glad I took his advice. He explained that I needed surgery to repair an area of my spine damaged by being rear ended. Agreeing with his diagnoses, he put me in touch with a local spine surgeon who scheduled me for surgery. That made the whole experience stress free.I can highly recommend DR. McDonald

At first I like him. His personality seems great, his quality of care is not so great. First time he gave an injection of which I had to seek other medical care. Next visit he did a nerve block. People were lined up like cattle. Took 5 min and I was out of there again in more pain than I walked in with. Called his office and it take someone forever to respond back. He wants to do a grade up nerve block. Why wouldn’t you do that to start with. I’m sure for another cost and rack up on insurance money. I’m so do with him. I moved on to Arkansas spine in Little Rock. Wow what a differences I do not recommend this clinic or Dr.

The first thing he said to me was "I'm not giving you any pain medicine". I only wanted the issue repaired and could not make him understand I wasn't there for pain medicine. He was rude, condescending, impatient and did not take time to explain his plan of care. He never repaired the issue with 3 separate injections so I had to see a neurosurgeon who corrected the problem after nerve conduction studies were done. I wasted months of agony with McDonald. Do NOT recommend him!!!

Very easy to deal with. Got me in for my first appointment extremely fast and he was great explaining things to me!!

I found Dr. McDonald to be professional and knowledgeable and very. Friendly. I was very comfortable with him. Good experience with a doctor!

I work in construction and can't thank Dr. McDonald enough for working me in for injections just before my insurance was terminated. You know that wasn't his problem, but he and his staff made it happen and I can't thank them enough. If you call anywhere else that probably wouldn't have gotten MRI and Injections done within a matter of days. Again many thanks. I feel so much better.

I'm not a fan of pain which most are not, but I really have enjoyed the care I received from Dr. McDonald and his staff. He really listen to all my problems even the not related ones. I have referred my Brother and my Dad to see him and they both have received excellent care as well.
