Useless ER visit
The examination was rushed, no conversation about my condition, an abrasive style of communication, and the diagnosis was wrong. A few days later I had to go back to the ER (this time at Ronald Reagan Hospital which was a totally different and exceptionally positive experience). A disappointment within a usually excellent hospital.

Came into the ER with chills, fever, body aches, severe fatigue and a fever of 103. Dr Bawa quickly diagnosed me with facial cellulitis. Nasty bacterial infection. In less than 30 seconds Dr. Bawa placed me on IV antibiotic and admitted me to the hospital to prevent the infection from spreading to my blood. I was also given fluids to prevent me from dehydration, as well as medicine to keep my fever under control. Dr. Bawa is extremely effective, knowledgeable, and a great doctor who probably saved my life. To the female who posted her review, claiming Dr Bawa doesn't like educated female patients- really? Are you kidding me? What reason would any doctor have to practice gender discrimination in an ER full of people? Grow up! Thank you Dr. Bawa for your hard work! You rock!

I came into The UCLA ER for an abnormal growth in my thyroid found via MRI/CT scan of my cervical spine. When initially seeing Dr. Jasvinder Bawa it seemed as though I was an inconvenience to him rather than a valued patient. To this, I remained calm as I was in the ER and other patients were needing care as well. When I further spoke to Dr. Bawa, he made it seem as if getting an ultrasound was a luxury even though my airways were severely impacted due to a potentially cancerous growth. I advocated for my care and he went on a rant about how medical students were inconveniences (stated in front of his own ER scribe enrolling in medical school). After exam, the ultrasound results clearly showed abnormal thyroid nodule growth and Dr. Bawa refused to exhibit empathy. If you are a female patient with any degree of medical knowledge, I suggest advocating for seeing a different MD at UCLA as he seems to dislike educated young female patients asking relevant health questions.
