Not my first choice
Not great. Felt that he dismissed what my daughter was going through even after abnormal testing. Did not feel confident in his care. I assume he knows his stuff and is very smart, but he didn’t seem to be concerned with what was going on with my daughter. We now see a different neurologist and are much happier.

Nice, but hurried.
He seemed to be kind enough, and clearly knows his specialty. My daughter only saw him briefly for testing and it was apparent that even though I knew her neurologist ordered this test for something just to rule out somethings and we were probably fine on this end, He was very uninvested, talked very quickly and hardly finished sentences. He was in out and left. To me, it doesn’t matter who you are whether or not your case is complicated, a doctor should treat each patient the same. I honestly felt like we were a number to him that morning.

Usually I would highly recommend him. This time he rushed through the appointment and didn't seem to care about what we had to say. Seemed in a huge hurry and didn't care at all. First time experiencing this is years.

We understand Jason Umfleet to be an experienced and intelligent person. He speaks very quickly which adds a sense of urgency and sometimes anxiety to our conversations. Sometimes we feel he knows our child well and provides personalized and individual attention. Other times, questions are asked that feel disconnected from our experiences working with Jason.

Dr. Umfleet is a very smart man. I think it is a blessing and a curse for him. He sometimes forgets to listen to the actual patient. He goes off on monologues which can make it hard to follow him. I had to ask him to clarify our course of treatment multiple times and yet I feel like my concerns are not being addressed. We have been on this diet therapy for almost six months without seeing major improvements yet we are being asked to continue with it.

He seemed to be in a hurry, my grandson is still having episodes that are severe, When I tried to show him emails that described the seizure like episodes my grandson was having from some of his teachers and providers he didn't want to see the, he said that he just wanted to know what I seen. When I said one of his teachers said his episode was Interfering with his school work, he said I doubt that. I was not very comfortable trying to explain because I got the Idea he wasn't really listening.

I would not choose another
Dr. Umfleet has succeeded in reducing my child's seizure frequency and intensity. My child is now 18 yrs and has not had such great care since onset at 18 mos. I believe the doctor leaves out the details that do not relate to treatment and his patient care is oriented in actual results. My kid loves his thoughtful approach while explaining changes, options and treatment plans in a way they can understand. I believe Dr. Umfleet is open minded, does not force opinions and listens well. He values my input and opinions, which honestly, can be based on feelings as a Mom. Also, he diagnosed the actual syndrome my child has and didn't just read the former charts when he took on a new patient. That has helped my family cope and better understand the condition. Now we can be a stronger support system. I felt like I was failing my child, even while seeing the best docs in the state, until we met Dr. Umfleet. He eases my worries because he genuinely cares about his patients and their results.

It was well, but I thought that he didn't really explain the outcome of my child's possible diagnosis. He really just said try this, and we'll see you in 3 months.
