Extremely Caring
Dr. Trahan was able to squeeze me in to treat my adult diagnosis of ADHD. He took his time explaining the condition, treatments, and long-term goals of treatment. He cares for his patients very deeply and truly wants what is best for them. Cannot recommend him more!

Very caring and informed doctor
Dr Trahan takes the time to listen and provides great insight. He doesn't always 'reach for the medicine cabinet'. When it makes sense, he recommends trying self-care practices first. I think that's commendable.

Helpful for maintaining long term conditions.
Dr. Trahan helped me understand the nature of anxiety, ADHD, depression, and ways I can live with it and keep those conditions under control. At times he doesn't sugar-coat his advice, but honestly I find occasionally being direct and blunt is the most effective way to get my attention. He understands how I think, and he works very well for me.

Really great!
I consulted with him in the hospital. He was patient and kind. He took his time to listen and cared very much about my well-being. He was rather off-putting about my weight, especially considering I have an eating disorder. So I reduced him by one star for that ugly comment. Otherwise he was great.

Dr. Trahan's Reply –
Hello, we are glad we could help!
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Trahan?
I visited Dr, Trahan in March 2021 when I was in a severe depressive state. I had one in-person visit and two telehealth visits, after which I was still unable to receive an appropriate diagnosis. His office confirmed the wrong apptmt time for my next in-person visit after my mom took off work and drove an hour to attend to help get the correct diagnosis. They sent us home, refusing to squeeze us in even though it was their mistake. We went home and were able to get me a same-day appointment with another psychiatrist who got me the correct diagnosis and on new meds, which completely changed my life. I called his office to cancel my next apptmt, stating that I was no longer planning to use him. Then he had the gall to send me a letter in the mail stating he will no longer care for me, alleging the reason as "failure to keep or appropriately cancel apptmts." No, it was because your level of care was sub-par, you allowed me to just talk instead of asking direct, specific questions.

Dr. Trahan appears to be the only on-call psychiatrist at NKC Hospital, and is the worst out of all the other doctors working with Meritas Health. He has poor communication skills, and is not willing to consult or take advice from other psychiatrists. He does not listen, to what the patient or family is telling him. The apathy toward his patients is unprofessional.

Dr. Trahan has been by far the best psychiatrist that I've had. He's really easy to talk to and actually listens to you and doesn't treat you like you're insane even if are.

Dr. Trahan refused to continue to prescribe a medication that had been working for me. I have tinnitus. Loud ringing in my head. When I first saw Dr. Trahan, I was on 5 medications. We both agreed to streamline my medications. After going off all of the medications, I did not do very well after being off of an antidepressant that worked for the tinnitus. I went back on the medication and felt much better. Even though I insisted that it worked for me, he refused to prescribe the medication.

Dr. Trahan made me feel very uncomfortable and he was unprofessional in his work. He was constantly putting me on new medications and was not caring about any side effects I had. At one point he told me, as someone with generalized anxiety and panic attack disorder, I was "a lost cause" because a medicine he prescribed wasn't working for me. I was also uncomfortable in our sessions, they felt creepy to say the least. I had an acquaintance who was a foreign exchange student who went to him for anxiety and he told them that they should maybe go back to their home country because maybe they were just homesick.

Dr Trahan is an absolutely horrible psychiatrist. He replaced my favorite psychiatrist ever and instead of just maintaining my medications which I’m doing fine with, he wanted to put me on heavy duty antipsychotics. In the previous appointment he gave me samples to take me slowly off Latuda, because we both agreed I had been misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder. However, he knew I was experiencing negative mental side effects from coming off pain medication and told me to step down off Latuda also

I have severe depression and Dr. Trahan has done his best to help me. We spend our appointments talking about my recent life events and what I can do to help myself along with medication. I'm glad I'm able to see him. His staff has always been friendly to me and the most I've ever waited to see him after arriving is 10 minutes. I only wish we could chat longer during our appointments.
