Takes a real interest in his patients
Listens. Changed my first visit from a standard first doctor visit into one to treat medical problems last doctor had dismissed. Was put on a drug that was affecting my heart. Then he changed to his specialty. Neuromuscular skeletal. He is still in Amherst but is at Better Now Medicine on Ponemah Road. In this role he is working on relieving my pain from a car accident that totalled my car. He is still amazing.

Great Care!
20+ years of chronic pain, too many doctors to count, everyone telling me there's nothing wrong on xray or MRI. 6 visits with Dr. Sullivan and I'm pain free! He always runs late but it's worth the wait because he gives you and every patient as much time as needed.

For 45 years I heard "nothing on the x-ray - you're fine". 45 minutes with Dr. Sullivan I walked nearly normal for the first time in decades. I was briefed as to why x-rays were inconclusive, why I was in pain. I was told to anticipate pain while undergoing treatment, experienced only discomfort, and post-procedure discomfort. Some Aspirin (my choice), a second session 2 weeks later, and I'm working mostly pain-free all day. A follow-up is scheduled for February 2022. I may finally be able to get the exercise required for a regimen of "diet and exercise" advised by my Primary Physician.

Dr. Sullivan was very unprofessional and dispite the fact he has a video on the Primary Care of Amherst website where he states that it is his desire to listen to a patient and help them, this could not be further from the truth. He was not engaged in listening to my son state his health concerns rather in a ten minute time frame caused fear and concern in my son of possible health issues, then proceeded to recommended that my son go back to his old physician; followed by his comment that he felt my son should just stick with his old physican because he (James Sullivan) didn't feel he was a "good fit" with my son. I didn't know you needed a lot in common with your doctor in order to have them over see your health care. So if you are looking for a doctor with professionalism and care I would look else where!
