Dr. James Schaffer, MD

We have been going to Dr. Schaffer since 2006. He’s an excellent family physician. He seems to genuinely care about our family. He is a good listener and a prompt communicator, which is very important to us.

We have been following Dr. Schaffer from when he was with Novant in Southpark, to when weh ad to see him in Cornelius, NC, and finally he returned to the Southpark area again a year ago. We followed him because he is an excellent doctor, the chief medical officer of Health One, a family and ob/gyn practice aligned with Atrium. He has a wonderful manner, answers questions until you are finished, doesn't hurry you along. Best of all, he has superb PA's and Nurse Practitioners in his practiced that give you a very similar comfort in their knowledge and professionalism. I would not go anywhere else, and I am VERY particular about my doctors due to many medical issues, and I go where the best is regardless of distance.

Honestly, one of the best GPs I've been to, which is why I am writing a review. Fantastic bedside manner, thorough examination, and very clearly explained things. I didn't experience any of the patronization or up-charging that was mentioned in the other reviews, perhaps that was an off day. I suppose there was some note taking in the computer, but honestly what do you expect in today's medical environment? It never interfered with the examination so no qualms there. Highly recommend

Talked to the computer not to me. Arrogant and patronizing. Dismissed conflicting lab results when in fact his labs were wrong and other doctor's were right.

Good doctor. But upcodes preventitive care visits. Be very careful about billing. You will be charged for more than you expect.

I have referred friends to Dr. Schaffer already. He is very patient and thorough, and I have confidence that he cares and listens to my conserns . His staff is professional and helpful. My friends that have chosen Dr. Schaffer feel the same way.
