I didn’t want to write a bad review but this has happened every time I go to this office to see Dr. Plotnik. My appointment was at 10:40 am. I got there at 10:30 am per their instructions. A lot of people came after I arrived and one by one they were called in. I was called inside at 11:15 am, 35 minutes after my appointment time. Was taken to exam room, told to sit on the uncomfortable exam room chair. I waited there until 11:50 am for Dr. Plotnik to make his appearance!! An hour and 10 minutes after my appointment time. He saw me literally for 5 minutes in a hurry! I had another appointment at noon which I completely missed. What bothered me the most was the fact that, not the front desk. Not Dr. Plotnik, not the check out people had the courtesy to apologize for the 1 hour and 10 minutes delay, like nothing has happened and this is charity work, and this delay is NORMAL! It is NORMAL! This is unacceptable. I don’t understand how they can do this all the time and no action is taken to correct this unpleasant experience for their customers. I really don’t recommend this practice to anyone.

I am eternally grateful to Dr. James Plotnik for successfully performing strabismus surgery to correct the thyroid disease related double vision that had for months crippled my ability to function on a daily basis. I am no longer frustrated by the inability to perform the simplest tasks that we take for granted without the aid of prism glasses. The surgery was not particularly complicated and my recovery was uneventful. Most importantly, the return of normal vision post surgery was immediate. Impossible to thank Dr. Plotnik enough.

I had a lazy left eye, it was turning in; on his own, not in response to any concern by me, Mr. Plotnik said he was doing the vertical also. I was unaware, but probably this meant higher fee. When I removed bandages 24 hours later, eye was blind, detached retina. He did not see me for 5 weeks after surgery! When I called his office at 2 weeks stating left eye could not see, I was told curtly without interest or concern "stop using the salve". At the 5 week appointment, he rushed me to retina surgeon, who reattached my retina but significant vision loss had occurred, my eye is currently legally blind. Also, my eye was stuck looking up in corner (he had also changed the vertical). None of his fellow lazy eye surgeons in Phoenix would testify this was malpractice. Plotnik attorneys claimed eye detached on its own by coincidence. Recently, I had surgery in LA by brilliant doctor to get eye out of corner, he told me much of his time was spent cleaning scar tissue from what Mr. Plotnik did.

I am in considerable pain after surgery from Dr. Plotnik. His office staff are now making it impossible for me to get copies of my medical records sent to another doctor's office so that I can try to get help from someone else. They tell me something different each time I call on the phone.

Dr. Plotnik has been caring for our daughters for almost 10 years and has always been very thorough , professional, and friendly. When our oldest daughter began experiencing migraines Dr. Plotnik quickly saw her to make sure that her vision was not contributing to her headaches in any way. We wouldn’t trust anyone else to take care of our daughters!

We failed our daughter. If we shouldn't have known from the first rushed consult and push for surgery, we definitely should have figured it out when he basically pretended like the 1st never happened when the results dictated a 2nd. Started with strabismus + headaches. 2 surgeries later we have that and misalignment when looking in certain directions. Dr. was always rushed and made no effort to set expectations. The office experience (scheduling, billing, etc.) is a confusing nightmare.

Unhappy with results of his surgery after presenting with double vision, I had a second opinion at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Clinic. Had Plotnick done proper, thorough testing, he'd have seen that it was not a matter of my eyes being corrected, but my brain not being able to coordinate images. Therefore, the surgery I'd had was not only unnecessary, but made things slightly worse; even the prisms glued to my eyeglass lenses were useless. Plotnick's arrogance and indifference were breathtaking.

Doctor is very good but the staff from the Scottsdale office is HORRIBLE & UNORGANIZED. Hard to talk to someone when you call, good luck getting a call back if you leave a message, you have to call several times to get them to send the prescription over to your pharmacy, horrible when it comes to surgery arrangements and instructions. YOU HAVE TO PAY UPFRONT EVEN IF YOU HAVE MET THE MAXIMUM OUT OF POCKET! The lady from the billing (Tamara) is super rude. She would not re-verify your benefits.
