So many lies
This man should not be practicing medicine. Spent half the time explaining what a carb is when I have a degree in biochemistry and told me the only way to lose weight was to cut all carbs. Interrogated me when I asked for a nutritionist referral. Told me to open my windows in the morning to help with the mood swings 'you women' experience. Worst medical experience I have ever had.

Erroneous/Shady Diagnostic Claim
My original doctor in Downtown Dallas was too far to drive, so I scheduled what I thought would be a physical with James Mitlyng at U.T. Southwest. They said that they first wanted to schedule an introductory visit, but would perform a physical and labs if the doctor had time. In anticipation of this, I fasted before my visit. During this visit, he asked about my health history and preventative procedures I have had, but no physical and no labs were performed.Much to my dismay, he submitted this visit as diagnostic, with diagnoses for which I was already taking medication (cholesterol meds for 6 years), and also for being overweight (self-evident). Since I have not met my deductible for the year, this claim stuck me with a $400+ patient balance. I am retired and cannot be hit with these surprise billings, but their claims review team upheld the bogus diagnostic billing. Never again with this doctor or this clinic!

Terrible doctor. Very rude. Went to him for many years and regret it. He has a bad attitude and not good with patients. Don't spend your time with him.

Dr. Mitlyng has been my primary care physician for over 20 years. He is a highly intelligent and caring doctor. His annual exams are thorough and have found two significant potentially life-threatening medical conditions in their early stages, provided treatment or referrals to specialists and preventing them from becoming serious conditions. I have total respect and trust in Dr. Mitlyng.

Friendly, personable, wise, thorough and professional. Dr. Mitlyng has provided primary care for about 15 years and I have complete trust in him. He likes to draw illustrations and insure understanding. He does not talk over my head but gives easy to understand explanations to complex medical questions. Staff is helpful, professional and pleasant. The clinic is 100% patient focused.
