Dr. James Howell, DO

My review isn't so much about the doctor or staff, I'm leaving this review in hopes of bringing awareness to the structural issue I've seen so many patients struggle with; that is the entrance of the building. After opening and entering one set of doors, patients must then open & enter through a second set of doors to be inside the building. Having to enter through two sets of doors is not a problem except for the fact that the second set of doors is ridiculously heavy and very hard to pull and hold open. Someone entering in pushing another person in a wheelchair or someone in a wheelchair trying to enter by themselves struggle every time. I've got up several times to hold the door open and help people in. It makes me angry seeing these people struggle and fight so hard just to get in the building. I'm sure the staff & doctors don't have to deal with it because they enter & exit through a side or back door due to the parking for personnel being in the back. I would be so grateful to see those heavy doors be replaced with ones that are not a liability.

Dr Howell, has always been there for my family & myself. At the medical center, at the hospital & at home when needed. He's tended to my familys needs. Or referred us to someone that could. I don't see how anyone could say anything bad about him.He's always been very pleasant & helpful to our family.And I'm grateful for his care of my family. Both my parents have passed on, now. But DR. HOWELL, WAS THEIR DOCTOR till they passed on. He's still my brothers Dr. with no complaints. And he's been there for me over the years.We've been lucky to have him. Thank you Dr Howell for you service to my parents and your continued service to my brother & myself. For the better part of 20years or more. Thanks always

The only Doctor for me is James Howell. In the Eight years that we have had the pleasure of being his patients, I give his credit of giving me more time to live on this God's earth. We see him on a three month basic and more if necessary. This Doctor takes time to do his work and always has time to visit and answer our questions, I only wish we had known him earlier in our lives. Dr. Howell has been our family doctor for 7 years and he is an outstanding doctor. He always takes time to listen to you and your problems. I wished I had known him when he first came to DeFuniak Springs. He called my husband last week since we didn't need to get outside of the house because of this virus thing and he took time ask all questions. I like for him to call us sometimes. We might not feel like going in his office some days. Thank God for a caring doctor that takes care of his patients. Sometimes he does forget to give us refills but we drive up there and he gives them to us to bring back to the drug store. I have a wax build up and he doesn't wash out my ears. He takes an instrument and gets all the wax out and he also removed a corn from my left toe that had been hurting me for years. I call him a miracle doctor. I will give him 5 stars.

Dr. Howell was my PCP for many years and he was great! I didn't realize how great until I moved and saw what else was out there. I decided that it would be worth the drive to go back to him. At that point, he wasn't accepting any new patients. He is very knowledgeable and kind.

I was very displeased with Dr. Howell when he was called about my father he had been seeing for 3 months and said they showed NO record of seeing my dad and didn't even remember him. The problem was that because we chose a different hospice than the one that Dr. Howell is the director of, he tried to make things hard on us and my father. I would not recommend this doctor to ANYONE!
