Dr. James Farrell, DO

I would just like to say that I could not be more pleased with the care I received from Dr. Farrell and his staff. I am a 78 year old man who was diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer. This came out of left field. Dr Farrell was so professional and patient and kind. I ended up having a radical prostatatectomy. Now 6 weeks after surgery I am making a strong comeback and feel optimistic that Dr. Farrell has added years to my life. I recommend him without hesitation. He has made a difference in my life. I am appreciative of having a physician of his caliber here in Tallahassee. He is just outstanding as a representative of the medical profession. Very smart, thorough and informed me every step of the way. I have trusted him with my life and very glad that I did.

Unbelievably rude and condescending. His arrogance is palpable and shows in every interaction. Poor listening skills and will talk over you and ignore you. Has little to no knowledge in several urinary medications or treatments. More so unwilling, than unable to help. Does not care and blatantly sees patients as just a number. I would strongly advise you save your money and time and look for literally anyone else.

Dr. Farrell was the best doctor for my issue. He was very knowledgeable and answered my many questions that I asked many times. He was reassuring about what I was to expect during the procedure and after. I would definitely recommend him.

I (and most patients) appreciate a confident and knowledgeable physician. There is however a fine line between cocky self-confidence and arrogance. A physician who "gets off" on being patronizing to his patients is simply arrogant. Dr. Farrell repeatedly crosses that fine line. If you like insufferable know-it-all's Dr Farrell is your man.

Dr. Farrell was assigned as my urologist after my first doctor retired. He carefully looked at my health history and made recommendations for additional tests. After explaining the new test results and how the numbers work and finding cancer, he explained all the options available to me. My wife and I then had an hour-long office visit during which he explained options in full detail in a very understandable and professional manner. His concern and caring ways gave us confidence in his knowledge and skill to perform the surgery we opted to choose. The surgery went very well, and we are glad to have chosen that path. Had we waited the cancer would have spread to other organs. His concern to keep my wife updated after the procedure and during the hospital stay was very reassuring and informative. Dr. Farrell personally called me with pathology results and with follow up questions to see how I was doing. I highly recommend Dr. Farrell as an excellent and caring Doctor.

Dr Farrell treated me for benign prostate hypertension over the course of a year. He is a caring, compassionate doctor who treats his patients in professional, yet personal manner. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Farrell performed two surgeries on me ,the first was in January 2020, the second in March 2020. He was very professional and explained in great detail to me and my wife the diagnosis and the procedures. While I was being prepared for both surgeries he came in and talked to me . The outward display of confidence and concern he displayed had a very calming effect on me . When they rolled me in to the OR I had complete confidence in him and that I was in good hands. My wife , who was in the waiting area, told me that Dr. Farrell came in during both surgeries to update her on how the procedures went. During my post operation Dr. Farrell called me several times at home just to check in on me and see how I was doing, I was very impressed. He would notify me as soon as he had the pathology reports, again, very impressed. My follow ups went well they were prompt and professional . I can not thank him enough for taking care of the medical issues that I had. I highly recommend Dr. Farrell

In May 2019 Dr Farroll performed a cystoscopy and noted an abnormal finding in my bladder, he said it looked like irritation. In the record he wrote, does not look like cancer. Chances of prostate cancer is 8%. I asked him for a biopsy numerous times, and he refused saying there was no reason to biopsy something that did not look like cancer. I finally sought treatment elsewhere , had a cystoscopy in Jan 2020 and 3 residents saw the same abnormality as Dr. Farrell. The called in an attending who elected to do surgery thinking I had bladder cancer. By this time I could not urinate and had an indwelling catheter. In Mar 2020 Turp surgery was performed so that I could urinate on my own again, the doctors removed a tumor in my bladder it was 90% cancer, and took 2 samples from the prostate both were cancer. If Dr. Farrell had erred on the side of caution, done a biopsy It likely would have been at most stage 3. I have stage 4 cancer now. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Farrell thoroughly explained all of my options and listened attentively to my concerns. He even called me at home after the procedure to see how I was doing and give advise. Everything went well and I am fully satisfied with the outcome.

I have been under Dr. Farrell's care for over a year. His professionalism and knowledge cannot be understated. No one enjoys an appointment with a Urologist. No one wants to hear that there may be something of concern with their test results. No one wants to hear bad news in general, but especially under any circumstances about the "Big C." Although this has been a trying time for me and my family, I can honestly say that Dr. Farrell made a tremendous difference. I have gone through several procedures and he has always thoroughly explained every aspect to me. He not only gives you his opinion, but he also cites recent medical research and opinions to help you make informed decisions going forward. I have full insight on my diagnosis, but more importantly, I have a prognosis. He has shown me the way forward and for that I am truly grateful.

I met Doctor James Farrell this year in April 2018 when I had a surgical procedure performed and he assisted. My previous urologist a great doctor was elevated to a higher position. Dr Farrell came in and filled those shoes and I continue to receive great service to this day. Lucky me ! He is truly an impeccable professional doctor that has a great future ahead. I would recommend Dr Farrell as an urologist to family, friends, and even my enemy.

He presented a number of options - two of which I have already tried - he presented a novel approach to address my issue. Following my first treatment, I obtained wonderful immediate results which eliminated my urgency to urinate. The first night I could sleep instead of getting up almost hourly. My condition has progressively improved to the point I don't have any more accidents and can wear a thinner pad. . Outstanding professional service.

Dr. Farrell is a true meaning of care for the patient. In medical field you'll find very few of such doctors who will educate the patient to the level that the patient will feel confident to choose between the options provided as your future treatment. I have personally can't appreciate Dr. Farrell enough for his expertise in communication, stablishing the trust, and building confidence. I wish him success in his future endeavor.

Dr. Farrell has a very professional manner and he is also able to make you feel comfortable. He explains complex medical terms in a way that is easily understood, without making you feel unintelligent. He spends a good amount of time with you, yet he doesn't waste time or make his patients wait. He went of if his way, on a day when the clinic was closed, to personally see to my situation. I highly recommend him as a physician and a person to take care of your needs in an appropriate manner.

Dr Farell, is an outstanding doctor I was totally satisfied with his work, and he kept me informed on all the procedures and how they would be performed. The outcome was very successful. :)

I've always been a very healthy person before I had to see Dr. Farrell, my first impression of Dr. Farrell was that of a person that I could trust. He looked me into my eyes and told me everything I needed to know about my condition and I immediately knew that I could trust him. I asked him to treat me the way he would treat his dad and not only see me as another patient, and he promised me that he would ...and he did. I would recommend him to my family if I had to. Great unman being and doctor.

Seen another Urologist the past three years and one trip to the ER he fixed what the other Dr did not do. He made sure everything that was needed to happen was understood before each surgery. The best Urologist.

His demeanor and bedside manner are very professional and he clearly knows his stuff. He explains things in a manner that is approachable and easy to understand. I feel like I have a better grasp on my own health thanks to seeing Dr. Farrell. I will definitely be returning to him for future needs and would highly recommend him to others.

From day one of having Dr. Farrell assigned to me he was quick to put me at ease. It didn't stop with me, he made sure my family's minds were at ease. He made sure I was comfortable in my decisions by explaining everything so I can understand it. Before, during, and after surgery he was always there to make sure that I was taken care of. Always quick to get back to me if I had questions. Only Dr. I have ever had that contacted on a weekend to check up on me.
