An exceptional oncologist.
I was very fortunate to have Dr. Ewing as my oncologist after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma in December 2020. From that first meeting with him over 2 years ago at Ironwood Cancer Center, to my most recent meeting this past week, Dr Ewing has shown great compassion, and given me exceptional care. He has a quiet confidence and relaxed way about him that instantly makes you feel at ease and makes you feel that it's all going to be okay. At my first appointment, I was emotional about my diagnosis. But Dr Ewing said to me confidently, "we are going to get you better." It's now February, 2023 and I am cancer free and I feel so relieved and so grateful for Dr. Ewing and the staff at Ironwood.

I was with Dr. Isaacs but I’ve been very happy with Dr. Ewing. My wife was a patient here that had a good experience. I give Dr. Ewing 5 Stars. I’ve had numerous nurses here for chemotherapy and they’ve all been extremely kind and helpful. I’ve never had a problem here.

I think Dr. Ewing is good and doing all he can. All of the nurses here seem very qualified and they are very good at what they’re doing. They do everything I think they can do, under the circumstances.

Dr. Ewing has been a terrific resource to treat my late stage lung cancer. I have a medical background and in my opinion, he is on the cutting edge of the most current treatments for late stage cancers. I was diagnosed 18 months ago and am in a stable situation now which could last indefinitely? with continued treatment. In addition, his office staff has been terrific and are MOST responsive to my needs, They treat me with compassion, understanding, expertise, and a genuine friendliness which makes going for treatment just a routine thing. I couldn't be happier with this office and would recommend it for anyone seeking treatment for cancer.

Less than 24 hours after being diagnosed with stage iv cancer, Dr. Ewing told me I was going to die. He started quoting old statistics and pretty much said I had no hope. 15 months later, after seeing a different oncologist got treatment, I am in remission, hiking 3 mikes a day, and feeling better than I ever have. I do believe if I had continued with Dr Ewing, I would be dead right now. He has zero compassion for patients and offers no hope or encouragement - which is what those w cancer need!

I have been a patient of Ironwood for a few years now. Dr. Ewing was treating my sister for breast cancer and I met him at one of her visits. I transferred my care immediately after meeting him. If you get diagnosed with cancer, Dr ewing is one of the BEST oncologists in the Valley. He is personable, smart, and thorough with his care and explained my treatment plan in detail. I never left his office confused or worried about Lymphoma diagnosis. 5 stars all around. highly recommended

I’ve told my family how other doctors don’t really get it but Dr. Ewing is a true professional. Sometimes I feel alone and they ask me if I’m okay. Even the receptionist knows my name which means a lot to me.

If you are searching for an expert oncologist or a second opinion, please go meet Dr. James Ewing. He is so compassionate, so patient, so gentle. Because he took so much time talking to me and reading my file, he discovered I had been on the wrong medication by my previous oncologist. He’s that good. I have never felt rushed and if I have a melt-down, which is pretty much every appointment, he patiently listens to my concerns and reassures me he will help me through whatever comes my way.

I come to see Dr. Ewing at the Ironwood Glendale office. Everyone here takes many precautions to make sure I’m well taken care of. I had what I thought was a death sentence but pancreatic cancer was treated well with Ironwood. They have been monitoring my iron and everything in my body for several months to make sure the cancer stays out of my body for good. The nurses here will go out of their way to answer my questions.

I’ve been getting treatments for 18 years with Dr. Isaacs and was nervous to switch to a new doctor. However the change was smoother than expected. Dr Ewing is smooth, smart, makes me comfortable and is never in a rush. Calls me back personally to answer my questions. So far he’s been 100% correct with all his predictions. His smile and personality is something I appreciate more than I can discribe in worlds.

Dr. Ewing is an outstanding physician! He has cared for both myself and mother during very difficult times in our lives and was always there to answer any questions we had. I had 2 second opinions , one being at The Mayo and the other being at The Piper Center. Dr. Ewing's treatment plan for me blew every other physicians out of the water. If you are ever in need of care please go see Dr. Ewing and i promise you won't regret your decision.
