Made me feel so ashamed
Made up his mind before even listening to symptoms what the diagnosis was. When asked about help for symptoms, he became aggressive in tone, argumentative, demeaning, and belittling. I sobbed and left feeling so embarrassed and ashamed just for politely asking for help. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Horrible and traumatic experience with this dr.
Although I credit the Mayo Clinic with saving my life, the neurologist I first had retired and I had the bad luck to be assigned to Dr. Garza. He is the very worst doctor I have ever had. I have had to wait more than three months for test results, (although I can see them on the portal), then he will give a phone call or portal message with minimal info and set an appointment in another 3 months. He will say he is “unconvinced” with MRI or myeologram findings, is uninterested in my symptoms, avoids answering any questions, and seems to be on a timer. He is rude, pompous and has no compassion or empathy whatsoever. They say to be involved in your health, and when I tried to tell him about my continuing pain, he said he would contact me when HE had something to share, and blocked me on the portal. I refuse to see him anymore. Any appointment that I ever had with him was so stressful and seemed like a waste of time- I learned nothing. Do not go to this Dr. !

Some reviews have mentioned Dr. Garza's attitude but have you met neurologists before? They're all very matter of fact. They're not being cold, they're literally dealing with the brain. Dr. Garza was straight to the point and offered a very good theory regarding a new onset type of headaches I've been experiencing. He ordered an MRI and found something small that previous neurologists have missed. He personally called me with the results and was very optimistic about my treatment moving forward.

Like others posted, my experience was very disappointing and a waste of time. Mayo requests dozens ( yes 30+) intake forms which Garza ignored and he also was not accommodating re: hearing loss issues and communication. All struggle with masks during pandemic; for hearing loss people it is horrible. Drove over 5 hrs, paid for overnight stay and general stress to navigate appointment from out of state and the only interest he had was genetic information instead of treating me the patient. If research is his focus then he shouldn't be seeing patients. He may know more than his colleagues as stated on his bio, but he doesn't know people.

Worst neurologist in the country. I have seen multiple neurologists all over the country and he is by far the worst one, which is saying a lot. AVOID HIM!!!!

Would leave zero stars if possible. Provider has horrible bedside manner, making appointment awkward, and difficult to explain situation. Disappointed that I took time off of work, and spent extended time traveling to see this provider. Was treated like a number/set of symptoms, and spoken to in a condescending tone. Makes me think less of Mayo system because of this provider. I am truly just overwhelmed with disappointment in this provider/visit and experience. Would never see this provider again.

Absolutely horrible experience. Do not waste your time on this guy. He wouldn’t even consult with any other doctors. He just said he couldn’t do anything for us.

Brought our son to Mayo because of severe Migraine headaches. We were very happy with Dr Garza. He took his time to examine our son, answer questions, and explain a course of treatment. We found him to be both precise and professional.

No star! Worst doctor I've ever been to. Hands down! ! Came thousands of miles to go to Mayo and this doctor had his own agenda. Looked at previous tests, didn't listen to symptoms and never addressed the head aches. Once he came to his conclusion he refused to see me again. Try someone else!
