He was very good in explaining my concerns and helping me better understand what my surgery had entailed and what I can do to stay active in order to keep my knees in their best conditions.. I am sorry to hear he will be leaving the practice and wish him well!

Dr Akhtar seemed bored and very rushed during my appointment. Maybe my condition wasn’t interesting enough for him. Basically he said you have three options: cortisone, surgery, or nothing and when I chose nothing he was ready to leave without even asking if I had any questions.

Dr. Akhtar was clear that this was an elective surgery and explained why I was a candidate who would qualify to be recommended for a total knee replacement. I felt comfortable with his explanation and opted for the surgery performed by him personally rather than using robotics. He answered all of my questions and alleviated any of my concerns.

I was disappointed with his professionalism. I felt like he didn’t want to hear what I was telling him. He never took the time to ask me questions. I thought it was a rushed visit. I was having concerns about my hip and wanted an x-ray of my hip due to a prior surgery that was done by an affiliate of this practice. He just did my knees and gave me a cortisone injection and sent me on my way. I was trying to explain to him that I had the arthritis prior to my surgery and that the pain that I experienced prior is what made schedule an appointment. I have to schedule another appointment for my hip now.

I had a million questions about surgery. I had been gathering them in a notebook. Dr. Akhtar let me go through all of the questions, never rushing me and always providing clarifications. He never pressured me into a decision and gave me good data to help make my choices.Surgery went very well, recovery had a few bumps, but Dr. Akhtar was there the whole way to answer any questions.Getting my life back from pain has been a long journey, and Dr. Akhtar has been an amazing doctor and surgeon to get me moving along that path!

I didn’t have a chance to meet Dr. Akhtar. I did however his medical assistant, who is very pleasant unfortunately, the young gentleman didn’t understand a body image issue that I have. Was offered a pair of paper shorts and told I would be walked them all to x-ray. This is not something I can do without great anxiety. Embarrassment. I ended up leaving before an x-ray or meeting Dr. Akhtar.

Outstanding care and put things in motion in order to resolve my issues

Although my visit started badly, about 45 minutes late, it turned out very well. I found Dr. Akhtar very attentive, knowledgeable, and caring. Most doctors don't listen to you, but he did.

NYOrtho Surgical Facility on Everett Road is an excellent facility with modern equipment and very qualified people. Processing and pre-op protocols were followed to the letter. My nurse was a terrific person both professionally and personally. Dr Akhtar discussed the procedure and explained everything that he would perform. The process moved right along up to and including check out. Prior to check out several tasks were required to demonstrate balance and mobility. Instructions for post-op tasks were provided as well as any questions I or my spouse may have. Perscription was electronically sent to preferred pharmacy and picked up on our way home. Pain is tolerable, prescription helps. Thanks to
