Dr. Ilanko Upendran, MD

I have not only had the pleasure of working alongside Dr Upendran but being his patient as well. There is undoubtedly no physician I have every worked with nor been treated by that has topped this amazing individual. He genuinely CARES about his patients, he has a memory for detail that is mind boggling. I have seen him meet a patient or patient's family member he hasnt treated in years and remember details about them, their history, meds, family. He is one of those special few that without a doubt were chosen for their profession. Thank you for your knowledge, your compassion and for all you do!

He has always been a caring person and he tries hard to get patients to change their ways. He sits down and talks to people and makes them understand. He doesn't treat people as if they have some form of disease he genuinely cares. I was a CNA that observed all his doings for people. He DOES make a difference!!

Dr. U is so personal and endearing. He loves his work and I feel he doesn’t treat the symptom, he treats the patient. Dr. U undoubtedly saved my father’s life. Through his treatment, attention to every detail and tireless efforts, he was able to take him from near death to coming home to us. I am forever in his debt. If you are looking for a doctor that is engaging, attentive and thorough, Dr. Upendran is your man!

Dr. Upendran has taken care of several of my friends and patients, so I have had many encounters. I personally got to experience his compassion on 2 separate occasions recently with a coworker and my aunt. My aunt has been a hard case and he has sent articles to my family for them to have a better understanding of what we are dealing with, instead of just leaving us in the dark! To say he is an exceptional doctor is an understatement, he cares and he goes above and beyond to find answers and to communicate in a way normal people can understand(or sends you articles to better explain). He is patient and kind. Tyler could use more physicians like Dr U, if you have a loved one who finds themselves in the ER, I would strongly encourage you to request Dr Upendran…you will not be disappointed, he treats each patient is if they are a genuine part of his family! I am very grateful for everything he has done for the people in my life!

Dr. Upendran explained more in 15 minutes than my cardiologist had in my regular appointments. He truly seems to care about not only your health,but that you fully understand. Communicates in common language that patients can understand. Thank you for caring.

Dr Upendran is the most caring doctor I have ever met. My dad had stage IV cancer and was very weak and needed to go to rehab after being released from the hospital in Tyler. My mom and I wanted desperately to get him into a nice facility closer to home where my parents live. Dr Upendran went above and beyond to help us. Though my dad lost his fight with cancer last week, I am so thankful for Dr U because my dad was able to pass peacefully in his home surrounded by loving family.

Wonderful Doctor! He is one that truly cares about his patients. He took care of my daughter when she was very ill and he is one of the kindest, most caring doctors I have ever met. He is easy to talk to, great to explain things to you and takes his time and will listen to his patients too. I can't say enough good about this man. I wish there were more doctors like him. In my opinion he is the best!
