My mom broke her femur at the age of 80. Dr. Labanaskas told us that our options were to amputate the leg or have my mom sit in a rehab for 6 months and let it heal on its own but it might not heal fully ever or be able to walk. What?!?!?!?!? He told us with her medical condition she would never survive the surgery. Thank God her primary doctor and cardiologist were out of Rush. Only went to Holy Cross as it was the nearest hospital via ambulance. I contacted her cardiologist, got a referral and transfer to Rush, she had a 3-hour surgery the next morning, with a titanium rod placed in her shattered femur and knee cap. She was able to walk again. Always get a 2nd opinion. This guy should not be a doctor!
