Dr. Hwa Son, MD

I came to Dr. Son with pain in my ear. The visit was less than 5 minutes and Dr. Son looked in my ear and said there was nothing to see despite the small black bits that to me was not normal, brushing them off as dirt or something. I knew something was off but the pain was mild enough at that time that I did persist. I understand that perhaps there was not a lot to see but treatment at that point would have helped what happened next, or at least some empathy. I left the visit feeling I'd wasted her time. Fast forward 2 weeks, the pain worsened to the point of unbearable and I lost hearing. Finally, I felt my ear had filled enough that there was surely something to see. Perhaps a blessing that she had no availability then. I saw a different ENT who was empathetic, took time with my appointment, and diagnosed an infection, taking time to answer my questions, set expectations, and prescribe treatment.

Dr. Son was very helpful, explained everything to me and what I had to do! Before the actual procedure, she went over the details of what she would be doing. The recovery went smoothly b/c of her care. The follow-ups too. They went well and were schedule at the same time.

Four years ago, I started to have serious attacks of vertigo. I had never suffered like this before; it was frightening. Dr. Son listened to my fears and my questions, and she developed a treatment plan that gave me consistent relief. Just recently, I developed balance problems (not vertigo). I re-contacted Dr. Son, once again had questions, and she answered them. Yes, my balance problems are ear-related; after doing tests, she found the cause and again recommended treatment. I have confidence in Dr. Son.

Dr. Son is very good at what she does and what she does begins with a clean & comfortable environment where there's no 'in & out' rush and all of your thoughts and questions are addressed in a thoughtful, pleasant & professional manner. You'll notice the difference immediately.

I have been to her for the same issue twice a few years apart she does a great job I only Get my hearing back because of The work she does.

Dr Son, has been treating me so professionally, brilliantly and with great humanistic care. For the three times I saw her regarding an ENT related issue, her wonderful recommendations, caring examination, and prescriptions needed, worked so well! Seeing her again for follow-up today, one of the additionally great things is her incredibly prompt replies to my written questions, with on target suggestions going forward. This is the physician, an ENT, you should see without hesitation!

Dr. Son is the most pleasant and accommodating Dr. I have ever know. She is extremely friendly and really cares for her patients. Whenever I call she fits me in no matter how busy she is. I wish all doctors were as nice as she is. If I had to rate her as a doctor it would be 100%.

Dr. Son operated on me because I had chronic sinusitis. Because of the surgery and her care I was able to get my life back. Thank you again Dr. Son.

I found Dr. Son to be thorough in diagnosing my problems. She was patient and listened to me. My problem is not an easy one and we discussed many contributing factors and she provided good feedback. I would recommend her to anyone as an ENT

Dr Son was terrible. I was suffering from pain in my right ear, hearing loss, and constant ringing in my ears. She spent LESS THAN 5 MINS with me and said I had TMJ, eat soft foods and listen to soothing music when I sleep to drown out the ringing in my ears. I've been trying to fight the $234 bill through Westmed. I even wrote an email detailing my experience and no one has ever gotten back to me (from November 2020). Dr. Son knew I was upset with the "diagnosis" and the lack of time spent with me. I went to her seeking answers from a specialist but left feeling defeated and demoralized. I still have pain in my ear, hearing loss and constant ringing in my ears. Please, consider a different doctor if you want your issues to be addressed seriously and with some compassion.

My experience was awful. I saw her twice... She misdiagnosed my swelling in my throat as an infection and continued prescription of prednisone and agreed with a hospital prescription of antibiotics... None of these drugs were needed. I had an allergic reaction. So I unnecessarily poisoned my body with steroids and killed all bacteria in my system for 2 weeks... for no reason. Then I had a 2nd reaction... ended up in the hospital Easter Sunday morning. I called her and left messages. She didn’t call me back until Wednesday!!! On top of all that she charged me exorbitant rates for her shoddy diagnosis procedures. She is terrible. One of the worst Dr experiences I ever had.

I went to see the ENT Dr. Hwa Son for ear wax cleaning. She looked at one of my ears and said that it looks fine and that I need to see another doctor for hearing aid. She told me to just come back on Monday and have the other doctor do the cleaning at the same time. My grandson asked her to please do it since we are already there. She made a face and then grabbed some long tools and started digging through the ear canal with them. It was so painful. Then my grandson who is a medical professional, asked her to please use an agent that will help break up the wax. She told me, a 78 year old woman, to use debrox twice a day, for 2 weeks in order to break up the wax by myself, at home. My grandson asked her again, to please try another method to clean out the ears. She had such a rude attitude, but eventually got some water and tried to clean it with water. After a very short moment, she said "I tried". There is nothing I can help you with. I have never met a doctor as incompetent/unproff.
