Dr. Huy Khuu, MD

I have been a patient of Premier Heart and Vascular Center in Zephyrhills and Dr. Khuu's since at least 2018. Dr. Khuu put two stents in me at AdventHealth Hospital in Dade City, and from that point on, I became a patient of his. I appreciated his care and have been forthwith in recommending him to others and the practice in general. However, there seems to be a big problem with their billing office. In a stress test performed in 2019, Dr. Khuu's billing office in billing United Healthcare used an incorrect billing code, and the claim was rejected. I was not notified of this, and instead received a bill from the billing office in 2020 for $1471.05. I called up my insurance company to find out why I was being charged this amount. I was told that I do not owe anything, and that the error was on Dr. Khuu's billing department, and that they had used the wrong billing code. I immediately called the billing department, and told them that I had spoken to UnitedHealthCare (UHC), and that the reason it was rejected was an incorrect billing code. I thought that they would call the insurance company, get the correct billing code, and re-bill it. Things remained quiet for another year, when, I was sent another bill for the same amount from the billing office of Premier Heart and Vascular Center. I then called UHC again, and said that this situation needed to be rectified. They agreed to having a 3 way conversation between the billing office, UHC, and myself on the phone. The conversation ended with "everything would be taken care of". Since that call, I had received a follow-up letter from UHC saying that everything was in order, and that the bottom-line was that I owed a total of $154.43. I immediately forwarded a check to the billing office of Premier Heart and Vascular Center for that amount. Now, fast forward to 2024, as I went in last Monday (September 9th 2024) for another stress test, I was presented the same bill for $1471.05. I said "This was supposed to have been taken care of". The receptionist said "I don't know anything about this, this is from the billing office", and to give Cheryl in the billing office a call. I walked out of the office then and there. On Friday the 13th of September 2024, I received a call from Dr. Khu's office reminding me of my appointment on Thursday the 19th for the results of my stress test and a talk with the Dr. I told them there was no longer any need to keep the appointment as I did not have my stress test taken, because I was presented with the $1471.05 bill from 2019 again. It seems to me that the error lies in the billing department. They made the initial error in how the 2019 stress-test procedure was billed. In as much as the error was not a result of my action, but that of the billing department's, I feel that I should not be liable to pay for their error, and furthermore, it is up to the billing department to own their mistake. This is just a matter of good business principle. In good conscience, I can no longer recommend this office to any of my friends who have relied on me in the past for recommendations.

Dr Khuu has been my cardio dr for a little over 4 years now. I HIGHLY recommend this Dr if you want a straight up no nonsense Dr who literally cares about each patient. He speaks in terms that I can understand. He has an awesome bedside manor and is extremely easy to get along with. He will joke during the right times but will also take in account EVERYTHING you say to him and is a very serious and personable Dr.I absolutely LOVE this Dr and trust him with MY LIFE, as he has saved it on more than one occasion. At first I liked Dr, Khuu but he made me nervous during my cardiac Catherization as he kept saying over and over "this is really, really bad." He said my problems were all genetics and nothing I could do about it. At a later date I told him of my concern about what he was saying about "this is really, really bad" over and over again. On speaking to him he said to enjoy my life now, and I asked does that mean I will not live a long life and he said that is correct. He said he did not beleive I would be alive in a year. Several months later I had chest pain and he did another catheterization. He said there was nothing he could do. My wife asked about a referral to a cardiac surgeon, and he said no as there is nothing anyone can do for your husband. He then said if I had chest pain again, I should not call an ambulance, and should not go to the ER. I got a cardiologist at USF, got some new medicine, was put on a Plant Based diet and 4 years later I am doing great.

Dr. Khuu has been my cardiologist for almost four years. He was recommended to me by a neighbor who was confident, Dr. Khuu saved her life. I have not been disappointed. Dr. Khuu is very available, answers all questions in easy to understand layman terms. Regardless of any relocations in my future, Dr. Khuu will always be my cardiologist.

Dr. Khuu takes time and listens to you. My cardiologist of 7 years was injured in a serious accident and I was assigned to Dr. Khuu. He not only provided medical attention, but also gave moral support and kind understanding.

Would not recommend. Failed to treat a serious heart condition, told my husband not to come back to the hospital if he had chest pain again. Sought second opinion and pacemaker was inserted, medications started; husband feels much better. No thanks to Dr Khuu. :(

Was the on call Doctor filling in for Gilbert Postler at Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel FL. I was extremely impressed with Dr Khuu he explained my situation in detail and did it so one could understand, did not rush and was very professional. I am a snow bird from the Bpston area and very concerned about cardiac care in Florida. He certainly cleared up any doubts I may have had. I now have found two cardiologists here in Florida that I can highly recommend
