Dr. Howard Herrell, MD

My Exsperience was least to say not good. He first off said I needed to get My Ovary Out wich had a septated Cyst. I am past the Age of Menopause and has been for awhile. I asked Him if He would do a complete Hysterectomy while in there. And He said no but came back in and said He will look and if He finds More He may do a complete Hysterectomy. The Ladies at the front desk was Hateful with Me and said that's not how We do it here. You have to Pay to see thw Doctor. At First He seemed Concerned. But when I left after My Surgery check up. He had told Me Prior He thought it w was s a Dermeroid Cyst. But it Ended Up being a Endmetrioma Cyst. Wich was still Growing and was 6cmFrom Having Endomitriosis. So Pain isn't resolved He said He cured it because I am past menopause. That was a Lie.You can even get Endometriosis after Menopause and it can continue to Grow after Menopause. My Feelings was totally Ignored. And He never even checked My Stitches He just said to get out of Here You can go. Because He did not want to deal with Me. I feel like because of My Age. And I had Ballad Health Care. Free Health Care.. He wouldn't even see Me without Paying something. But yet said to come see Him asap after the Hospital said He said wether I had Insurance or not that Growing Cyst needed to come out. Why not give Me a Hysterectomy?? At age 59 and if He did not even Know that the Cyst He took Out was a Endometrioma Cyst. Then How could he have known if it had spread. And said He had Cured Me. I tell You My Exsperience with Him would be a 0 if they had a Zero Score!! Now I have to find a actual caring Doctor that will go in there and do a complete Hysterectomy because obviously My Endometriosis hasn't stopped Growing and is still giving Me Trouble..I would never reccomend Him for anything. And I will never go back to see Him. I am still Hurting where He did the Surgery and pr9bably from Him.not even checking to see if I had more Endometriosis tissue anywhere. Because He said He was surprised to see it was a Endometrioma. And He said He cured it!?!? What a Liar

Worst experience ever!!! Gave me a diagnosis as soon as he entered the exam room without even talking to me. Talked at me not to me. Dropped the bomb during his talking. Very unprofessional. I would give him 000. Will never be back in this office!

He is probably the best physician who has ever treated me. Very patient with my concerns and highly knowledgeable. His advice was particularly helpful at several pivotal moments for me as an expectant/new mother. Does not hold back his opinions which some do not like, but I actually really appreciated his straightforwardness. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Dr Herrell and his staff are AMAZING!! They were kind and considerate of my concerns moving forward with my hysterectomy. I am ver pleased with everyone and everything I went through!!! Thank you Dr Herrell and Staff

His bedside manner was the worst I experienced, talked AT me, called every Doctor I'd seen before an idiot. At one point, I got up in tears and told him the appointment was over but sat back down after he apologized. I should have left right then. I advocated for a hysterectomy to which he agreed. He seemed rushed and disinterested the morning of my surgery, barely took the time to notify my husband that I was out of surgery, did not check on me post surgery and I ended up leaving the hospital in agony. I continued to have post surgical bleeding and scheduled a follow up. Dr. Herrell notified me that a suture had dissolved but did not require attention. The following day I was in the ER hemorrhaging and being rushed to the operating room. The emergency staff was shocked that my bowels hadn't come out through my vaginal area and said that the suturing job done before was not done correctly. Bottom line, DO NOT see this man unless you want to risk your health.

He is definitely not any way near like Dr Nelson. He never touched me a medical student did my pap. That was the fastest appt. IN MY entire life. Dr Nelson always gave me a full going over checked my breasts and ovaries the whole 9 yards. I have had pre cancer cells in the past so Dr. Nelson always kept a close check on things. I hate Dr Nelson retired now I guess I will be on the hunt for a different Gynecologist.

Dr. Herrell was terrific! He delivered my son via Csection. It was a perfect delivery. 2 day hospital stay was great and I healed in 2 wks. Dr. Herrell made me look forward to my checkups he has quite the personality.

He is easy to talk too and does testing instead of just jumping the gun and recommended surgery right off the bat. I am very satified with him.

From the moment Dr. Herrell walked in the room to talk to me he was cold and impersonal. He did not introduce himself or even attempt to make eye contact at first. He never once actually talked to me but talked AT me while he explained to his resident what a terrible choice it was that I had a home birth using a midwife. I held back tears the entire appointment. Dr. Herrell is the most arrogant physician I have come in contact with and I would not recommend him.

Today was my first visit his office. He is awesome!

Dr. Herrell delivered three of my children, and I couldn't have been more pleased to have him as my working OBGYN. He is a compassionate, highly intelligent individual who answers each query with absolute confidence. He delivered my third child in hospital, but it might as well have been a birth center, as he was fully focused on my peaceful state of mind the entirety of my labor. Over the years my respect for him has grown and I cannot say enough about his abilities as an OBGYN.

He is the best OBGYN in Northeast Tennessee. Dr. Herrell is extremely well-informed and his bedside manner is impeccable.

Nobody beats Dr. Herrell. He helped me birth my baby and he did a surgery for me that eliminated some complicated chronic pain issues. I can't say enough good things about him. Forget about all the other mediocre or downright terrible OB's in this area. Go see Dr. Herrell.

Dr. Herrell delivered both my children. He is attentive, friendly and awesome in the delivery room. The mother is at the helm! I wish I would've found him earlier in my reproductive years!! He's a wonderful listener and very informative about any questions that arise.

Recently switched to Dr. Herrell a year ago and he is VERY informative about my diabetes and PCOS. I was very impressed with the time he took to explain everything to me and update me on the new practices and medications there were to treat my PCOS and the best birth controll options for me.

Dr. Herrell is the only OB I was able to find that was willing to support my desired birth decisions. He was up front with possible issues and let me know what problems could arise.
