Dr. Howard Cohen, MD

Dr Cohen has treated me for 9 years now. Throughout that time he has taken considerable time to listen intently during each of my visits to determine my condition and discuss the best possible treatments. He spends his time informing me of the possible treatments and various options. During my 35 plus appointments he has treated me without the use of any pain killers. His extensive knowledge of medications and treatments has helped me overcome daily migraines and chronic pain. I highly recommend him and can not say enough of his empathy, knowledge and care for each of his patients!

Dr. Cohen always listens and spends as much time with me as I need. He educates me on my condition and choices for treatment.

I have been seeing Dr Cohen since 2004. I have very frequent, medically complicated migraines. I have seen other specialists over the years, tried everything including surgery to stop my migraines. He has been very supportive and validating for me. I have limited options due to drug allergies. The stigma of being on pain meds has been so awful in the US. He has been very helpful in supporting my situation with other doctors and ER physicians. He did genetic testing to show my inability to use the main pain medications that are available are dangerous for me being allergic to aspirin and NSAIDS. He and his staff have been very supportive and no dismissive like other doctors have been. I appreciate his desire to find an answer for me to improve my quality of life and rid me of almost daily severe migraines. He respects me and my medical background and I participate in my own care with his shared knowledge and he is always up to date with new treatments and research.

My experience is mostly very excellent. Dr. Cohen spent a lot of time on my first consult going over all choices for my depression. The woman who scheduled my ketamine appointment was excellent. One of the staff seemed to have a lot of trouble calling me back with an unsatisfactory excuse. I recommend Dr. Cohen.

I have been seeing Dr. Cohen for over a decade. His staff has always been amazing to me even when I suffered bouts of anger, and depression caused my a motor vehicle accident. They are understanding, and have always been caring. He has worked with me trying different medications to get me the best pain, and mental healthcare possible after a severe traumatic brain injury caused me major issues. Dr. Cohen, and Jared have done an amazing job, and I am blessed to have them on my side helping me through painful times. I wish he could handle all aspects of my care as he used to do, however, he is still doing a great job in helping me. The only negative I have for this physician is the wait time. However, they have gotten MUCH better with that. I know that I will receive quality care, and understanding. Thank you Dr. Cohen, and Jared for going out of your way every time I need you to get me the help I need. You are truly appreciated!

If you have mental health issues or are seeking ketamine infusion to treat major depressive disorder, don’t expect to find help here. Yesterday the office changed my appointment to 6:00am. Today I got the at 6:03 buy Uber, in the dark with a bunch homeless people wandering around the parking lot. The doors were locked and I was a single woman waiting in an empty parking lots waiting to get in. It was scary and traumatic. Then at 6:10 when his employee showed up late to work, I get reprimanded by her saying they don’t open doors til 6am. It’s 6:15 by this point. I’m crying and scared by the time I get in for my infusion for depression and ptsd. 3 hours later Dr. Cohen shows up and tells me to “stop acting like a victim” and be nicer to his staff. The same staff that left me outside in the dark at 6am. He did nothing to make it right while I cried and begged for treatment. That I pay $500 everytime I go in for treatment. I’m the paying patient. My own Dr, a psychiatrist, shamed me and told me to “stop playing the victim card”. If you’re depressed and seeking help, unless you want to be further shamed and traumatized, go look elsewhere. This place is a joke and they treat patients like numbers. No compassion.

Dr. Cohen is simply the best. He is the most compassionate, reasonable, talented doctor I've known.

For complex pain management, Dr. Howard Cohen is remarkable. He has impeccable education credentials and training. I have been with him a year and have experienced the most medically advanced care I have ever received. He is knowledgeable and thorough and that takes time. I understand schedules and the frustration of waiting; and for me, a wait of a couple of hours is worth the attention and understanding he gives each patient. I appreciate the drug screening tests he requires because I know that makes me and all his patients safer at the end of the day. I highly recommend him and his staff.

Dr. Cohen is one of the best physicians I've been treated by, in the last 10 years, and there have been many. He puts his patients at ease and is easy talk with. He listens to his patients and always tries to find the cause of the patient's illness. He does not just treat symptoms, and he doesn't treat you by throwing drugs at you. He is definitely very motivated to get his patients as well as possible. I highly recommend Dr. Cohen. He's not only a good doctor, but most of all he is a good man. ADDENDUM Despite the current climate regarding pain management in our country, and the severe restrictions the DEA has placed on all pain management doctors nationally; Dr. Cohen is still diligently working to find a solution(s) for my and my fellow sufferers pain needs. You couldn't ask for a more dedicated physician than that. This man is a true and solid healer.

Dr. Cohen is amazing. He has helped me so much. His caring and compassionate nature has gotten him in trouble with the DEA. This is OUTRAGEOUS. SHAME ON YOU DEA. It is a long wait sometimes but he’s an amazing doctor who takes time to really listen. He’s well worth the wait.

Howard Cohen helped to give me my my life back 15 years ago after my first PM doc retired. He's always offered many other treatment options in addition to medication. What is happening now is not his doing, it's the current government's administrative policies. He cares deeply about his patients.

Wonderful - second to none! I've been under his care for five years. He is top notch and stays current with new treatment options for pain. He doesn't just herd you through his office. Rather, he sits down with you and thoroughly discusses all your issues, provides excellent counseling along with an individualized up-to-date treatment plan. He goes way beyond the time he spends with you compared to other physicians. He is extremely compassionate and personable. He surrounds himself with a knowledgable and caring staff. He goes the extra mile dealing with insurance companies.

Dr. Cohen has been a wonderful physician and I was on the verge of a real recovery inside and out until recently. It has taken over 3 weeks of persistent attempts to get his office to send over the paperwork for my short term disability. I am on the verge of loosing my job and I have already missed a whole month of pay. This stress has worsen my state of being and has reversed the progress I was making. My depression has increased which is causing my pain to increase. Frequency of suicidal thoughts and feelings of hopelessness is having an immense impact on my quality of life. I can't afford to loose my job but I am not fit to go back to work so where do I go from here. It's the little things in life that can make or break a person and because of the added stress I feel like I am in pieces again. I don't understand why it is so hard to fax over a couple of pages of my clinical notes so that I can continue with my medical care and get back to a good quality of life.

My care and attention was consistently conscientious and professional from front office to physician. His assessment of my situation was thorough and he discussed my options clearly then we weighed the benefits and created a plan. His knowledge of the drug side-effects, benefits and interactions was thorough and wisely applied. His knowledge of basic genetic factors underlying my situation was very valuable. I see myself being able to function normally again.

He is brilliant, compassionate & saved my life. I was out of work for 6 months and after seeing Dr. Cohen I have been able to work full time. He gives each patient the time they need. He is worth the wait.

Stay away from this doctor. Sees you maybe once a year and the rest of the time you see a nurse practitioner. They load you up with pills for a while, getting you hooked then cut back when they are investigated. He also dropped all his Medicare patients June 2018 w/o any prior notice. This was for both straight Medicare and ones with Medicare Supplement Plans with big insurers (Humana, AARP, BSW Health Plan, Aetna, BCBS, etc)
