In the spring of 2019 I was diagnosed with an ascending aortic aneurysm that required immediate attention due to its size and my genetic background. At the time, I was a very healthy 53 year old male and the aneurysm was found while searching for a cause of anemia that turned out to be Lyme. He and his team were one of several such surgical teams I considered to take on the valve sparing procedure. The surgery happened on May 19, 2019 and I was out of the hospital in 4 days. He did an outstanding job from start to finish, and I have had a very full recovery having successfully returned to endurance sports. I waited this long to submit my review so that I could deliver it with confidence to other people considering his care. He and his team are extremely experienced and world class (if not the best) at performing these complicated procedures (valve sparing aortic aneurysm repair). Thank You!

I am a firm believer in preventive medicine. I had no problem with my heart that I was aware of. However, my mother had heart disease in her Mitra valve. I decided to see a heart specialist. Much to my surprise he said I had a bad leak in my Mitra valve. I took an electrocardiograph that confirmed his opinion and that I also needed tricuspid valve repair. I needed lifesaving surgery! This was one operation that I needed the best surgeon there is! After very careful research I selected Dr. Takayama. I am sooooooo glad I did! He repaired my valves 100% and gave me a new lease on life! If you are looking for a heart surgeon with unparalleled credentials, expertise, and bedside manner there is no better choice than Doctor Takayama!!!!!

I've blessed Dr. Takayama every day for the past six years. When I had a dissected aorta in 2014, he spent the entire night surgically making the repair. The operation was especially difficult because I was 79 and taking a blood thinner, which made the operation especially problematic. Besides his medical expertise, he's a warm and genial person, easy to talk to. I can't praise him enough.

The best heart surgeon hands down. Not only is he skilled but takes time to thoroughly explain your condition and options. My son is 32 with a congenital heart problem and Doctor Takyama put him at ease and laid out what to expect. He has an amazing bedside manner as well. Surgery was a success!

Fabulous surgeon for aortic aneurism. Unfortunately my six month scheduled surgery review was cancelled by his team as my Blue Cross coverage was in NJ and not accepted. It is odd how he could not meet as he is my surgeon and head of department. Seems care or options would be presented to get a proper follow-up. I never got to him post my surgery.

Dr. Takayama and his staff are the absolute best! My 80 year old father had an aortic root and valve replacement in September. The surgery was successful and the follow-up care has been amazing! My dad had a few health issues/concerns and at anytime I was able to bring him in to be seen or was speaking with PA or doctor quickly. I am so grateful for all the care given. I fully recommend Dr. Takayama and his staff.

From start to finish Dr. TAKAYAMA and his staff, were top notch and very organized. He is the most humble man you will meet. Very kind and respectful. He sat and explained the entire procedure that needed to be done. Even after surgery he explained in detail what he did and what was done outside of the plan, meaning he saw dad's mitral valve needed repairing too and did that in addition to the aortic valve replacment. He is your go to guy. We are truly blessed 2 have worked with Dr. HT!

I cannot express how grateful I am for what Dr. Takayama did for my father. He is a brilliant surgeon and an amazing, compassionate human being. He successfully performed a complex surgery facing with many risk factors. When my dad had a complication (unrelated to his heart), Dr. Takayama immediately arranged for the hospital transfer to ensure my dad received the best care possible. He checked on my dad and consulted with his doctors on a daily basis while he was in the hospital. Amazing!

I recently consulted Dr Takayama for AVR+CABG. Not only he answered my questions, he also encouraged me to email him if I had further questions. One w/e afternoon, I emailed him a list questions. To my surprise, he responded within 90 minutes. In the following week, we exchanged 16+ emails and he always responded quickly. He also invited me for a second in person meeting. He is exceptional that he is willing to do everything to get patients feel comfortable. Thanks! You are my top choice surgeon.

Best decision I ever made. A few weeks ago, Dr. Takayama performed an aortic root replacement in an amazingly unintrusive way. Even saved the valve that every other doctor assumed was a goner. He probably added many decades to my life. Another day in the office for this guy.

I was admitted for emergency cardiac surgery and do not remember anything that took place just prior to the surgery. I first met Dr. Takayama when I awoke in the ICU. The first thing I noticed about him was his calm, gentle, and respectful manner, which immediately put me at ease. I felt that he was really concerned about me and how I was feeling. He took the time to explain what had happened and answered all my questions. I was so grateful that he was my surgeon. He saved my life!
