She seemed incredibly knowledgable, but not aware that I had no idea what she was talking about most of the time. Docs think we are capable of making decisions about treatment but we rely on THEIR expertise to explain to us in terms we can understand what is happening and what each choice means. The only reason I understood ids because my husband, a medical professional, was with me.
